Why is Greg the Leg still on the team? Special teams?

Then he is not the leg if he cant deliver those and then mis a PAT on top, I will just call him the useless piece of crap, no kicking, game loser instead of the leg.
He’s one of the better long distance kickers
But 59 yards is extreme and shouldn’t even be attempted unless it’s the end of the game or the half
No matter the kicker it’s a low pct kick but it’s huge field position give up if you miss
Just not a kick that should have been attempted in that situation
You punt or go for it because even going for it is a higher pct chance of success than kicking 59 yards

I could care less if he can kick 80 yards, if he cant do it consistently and cant be counted on even for a PAT, he is what I said he was.

Well he doesn’t decide which kicks to attempt
And distance does matter
Extra points have to be almost automatic
It’s the easiest point to get in football
I’d rather have a guy who can be almost automatic at extra points and over 90% inside the 50 than a guy who isn’t those things but can’t hit a 56 yarder half the time

You can't miss the 59-yarder AND miss the extra point. Just can't have that from a kicker on a winning football team.

I suspect a bunch of people here, like me, grew up watching a ton of NFL football before 2015, when they moved the extra point line of scrimmage back 13 yards. Before that, a missed XP was truly rare. In fact, they changed the line precisely because the kicks were so near automatic it seemed pointless to play them.
So we have engrained in our assumptions this idea that nobody should ever miss a point after, but in fact that rule change has resulted in lots more misses. Happens every week in the league nowadays.

What exactly is a winning team? Are the Packers a winning team? Their kicker has missed a lot of kicks.

You are exactly correct.

Yes Einstein, the Packers are a winning team. And there's been a lot of talk about whether or not they should replace Crosby. Matt LaFleur has been flat out asked the question within the last week.

He should probably be replaced, just like Zuerlein should. But for whatever reason, teams remain loyal to players who cannot perform the simplest, most fundamental task any NFL player is asked to do.

Zuerlein doesn't look like he should be replaced. He steps up and makes clutch kicks in the 4th quarter no matter if he has missed a kick earlier in the game and kicks off very well.

Why? Why? Absolute the easiest position to cut and send a message and nothing but crickets. This is a huge part of the problem with this team. No culture change. They refuse to hold guys accountable.

and that’s 2 games “the leg” has cost us. The Tampa game and this game. Missing that 1st extra point had us chasing that point the entire game.

And pollards dumb decision to run the ball out in OT did not help the offence.

both “the leg and bones need to be gone.” This team just refuses to change the culture…

He should not be on this team. Should not have been resigned.

This team is still run like a pop Warner team…

No other team would keep Greg the leg or fassell.

You can’t miss an extra point
In that situation you can’t attempt a 59 yard FG
If a guy misses from 70 yards that’s not the kickers fault but the idiot that had him kicking it

Looked like he caught it on the one yard line, had to run it, could've bounced in I guess, but maybe not. I knew they were going to lose on the first drive.

Why?

The Cowboys will tell you because they trust him.

The real answer is because him and Bones are buddies.

Here are his stats for the year
8th leading scorer
but 21st in FG % (for kickers with at least 15 attempts)

From 20-29 yards
2-2

From 30-39 yards
11-12 (most attempts and most made)

From 40-49 yards
5-6 (very good)

So Zeirline has 18-20 inside the 50....which is very good
but....

From 50+ yards
1-4 (a couple were around 60 yards, but still, you'd like to hit at least half over 50)

The problem is that he is 22-25 on PATs.
I know almost every kicker has missed a PAT or two this year....but 3 is a lot.
Only 11 kickers have a worse % on PATs

Missing XP is a no no. Now 59 yards is not automatic but also can be made. That FG and the where they had him kicking over 60 yards is on the crazy coach. This coach is killing us in game management.
