If the NFL doesn't want the Cowboys to be successful, why not?

Thread for all who think the NFL and its officiating is prejudiced against the Cowboys (or not):

Why do you think the NFL wouldn't want Dallas to succeed? The Cowboys have the biggest fan base, generate the most revenue and draw the highest ratings. Wouldn't Dallas going deep in the playoffs (and a Super Bowl appearance every few years) be exactly what the league would want? It would fatten the league's pockets.

If the NFL is prejudiced, then this is claiming that the league is prejudiced against its own interests.
there is no conspiracy to keep cowboys or prejudice against cowboys.

the issue is about consistency with the refs calling plays.

I rewatched the KC game and the raiders game....same pass play brown was called in the endzone for interference happened against the cowboys in KC. in that game it wasn't called. in this game they called it...

so NFL has a officiating consistency issue. some of the refs think the game is about them, as opposed to err on the side of caution. if its not blatantly obvious don't call the play, instead of ticky tacky I am going to call it because I think I saw it...if the ref is on TV 28 times, then there is something wrong with officiating.....

If there was a 25-year conspiracy against the Cowboys where the NFL league office was essentially tilting the field against the Cowboys at the officiating level, somebody would have talked by now given that literally hundreds of referees have filtered through the league over that time.

Like so many conspiracy theories being bandied about these days, this one doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

The Mara family don't want Dallas to succeed. And we all know the Mara family controls Goodell.

:hammer:

If you don't believe this to be true, go read about the penalties the Cowboys and WFT were assessed for violating the salary cap the year the CBA expired and there was no salary cap. Remember how the Cowboys had their salary cap cut by the league? The story in the NY sports pages was it was Mara who was whispering in Goodell's ears that he had to punish Dallas and Washington, two teams in the same division as his Giants.

Not saying this is actually the case, but if we are dealing in hypotheticals.....

If you allow other teams to win SB, Conference Championships, , and Division Championships then their fan base will be more excited and buy more of their merchandise. Thus increasing NFL and team revenue, while the Cowboys are going to sell merchandise like they won all the aforementioned anyway.

So in the end the league makes more money when other teams win and rake in cash they otherwise would not get.

Yes but wouldn't it make most sense to still have the Cowboys make an occasional NFC title game or Super Bowl appearance, rather than a 26-year drought?

In other words, even if it's about benefiting the other teams, this would be taking the anti-Cowboys bias a bit too far.

Furthermore, if the NFL is really about sharing the wealth, then why did they let the Patriots win 6 Super Bowls in eighteen years while not letting teams like the Falcons, Lions, Bengals, Panthers, Titans,, Chargers, etc. win any?

But Cowboys fans were extremely annoying in the 1990s, and yet the NFL allowed Dallas to win three Super Bowls in that decade. Even though Dallas fans were already highly annoying after 1992.

All I know is I’m watching corners in the LA - Packers game not looking back for the ball, hand bar and hold every deep route and not 1 call. Our guy got 4. Ridiculous

Ask yourself this. In the SB why isn’t there a million flags thrown? Because the nfl knows it would be unwatchable. They let the players play.
The nfl says it’s “because it’s an all star crew”. Which is BS.

Like it or not certain teams have more influence than others. That’s why bellicheck gets every call. The Steelers… the packers .

We on the other hand have a loud mouth owner nobody wants to see win. I’m not saying they go out there and are against us on purpose. But sub consciously when it’s a coin flip on whether to throw a flag against us or not……you have to wonder what the refs are thinking

Goodell has been the commish since 2006...and weird crap has happened to us ever since...that's not a coincidence. Rule changes ruining the game....have all been on his watch....there is no debate about this.

Well said sir. It's not just a Cowboys problem. It nay not even be to arrange playoff teams.

It's just plain crappy, ill-conceived, poorly executed standard of work. At the least.

Truthfully, I think this is less about "not wanting" the Cowboys to be successful and more about them not getting the benefit of the doubt for a variety of reasons. Cowboys games always draw huge ratings, and for whatever reason the officials seem to make tighter calls under the national glare.

Then there's the theory that Roger Goodell has instructed the officials to always job the Cowboys ever since Jerry Jones tried to get Goodell ousted as commissioner in the wake of the Zeke suspension.

Of course we all know the NFL is a fair and upstanding organization that would never hold petty grudges. And the officials they hire do an impeccable job and would never, ever make calls based off personal bias. (yes, this is half-sarcasm).

By the way, I looked it up today. The Cowboys had Shaun Hochuli's crew only two games this season- Las Vegas on Thanksgiving and Tampa Bay in the opener.

Makes ya think.
