Marcus Semien
Jon Gray
Kole Calhoun
Corey Seager

Rarely do these spending sprees workout for teams, but getting off from a hard day at work and seeing the Corey Seager signing a 10 year $325 million contract ribbon made me smile. With the Mavs adjusting to a new coach, the Cowboys being the Cowboys in November and December and the Stars being… I don't know what’s happening with the Stars. My point is it’s good to see a positive sports story in the town for a change. No matter if it’s only hope. It’s something.

I’m shocked . All I could think of was the Alex Rodriguez 10 yr 250 mill contract that had the Rangers offloading him to the Yankees for Soriano . Marcus Semien is a fine player as well . This gives you a tight hard hitting double play combo but baseball is pitching pitching ….and pitching .

Cole Winn and Jack Leiter are top Rangers pitching prospects. They are set to make their debuts in the next couple of years. These moves weren’t meant to contend next year. They are still two three years away. If they become a surprise playoff team next season it will be a plus.

I don't get how teams can afford it. Baseball is a dying sport far from its peak popularity when it was the national pastime. I guess teams just keep raising the ticket prices on the remaining hard core fans.

The inability of Jon Daniels to field a competitive decent team in years amazes me how long he’s been in Texas . Let’s see if Chris Young can do anything . Pitching is what they lack sorely .

I keep hearing this but baseball players aren't dying from CTE. As a parent, what sport would you rather your son play? Check little leagues around the country and you’ll see the choices parents are making. When baseball dies, it will because sports in general has died. Who knows who will be on top (NFL, MLB and NBA) 10 years from now. We are already seeing the NFL rating decline (though all sports are declining).

Baseball may not be as popular in America that it was back in the 40s to 80s but internationally baseball makes even American football blush. The NFL has to have a special program to garner international talent (if you want to call it that), while players in Cuba are defecting to get a shot to play MLB. Baseball is not the NFL in America by any means but it’s not going anywhere. Not with gambling, fantasy/stat geeks and it’s international appeal existing.

I think Owen White gets call up this season. He is absolutely killing it in the fall league.

Yes he has, he isn’t ranked (top 100) on any prospect list (BA or MLB pipeline) that I know of like that ones I mentioned, though that’s because he came on late. Hopefully he continues. I suspect him to get a training camp invite at the least.

This 100% and I fully support it (especially since it isn't my money)
They just want to have the team gel now and then bring in the young guys in the next two years.

Huff and Jung will be on the team this year, with a chance that Winn is brought up later in the year. If Huff can find the success and stay healthy as he had during his call up in 2020 and Jung is who they think he is - this team could get good pretty quickly. Still need to shore up the staff and that will likely have to be via trade.

With the securing of both SS and 2B - they have some top prospects now that they can trade for either pitching or OF help (Foscue and Duran)

They get a top 3 pick again this year and could go for Jung younger brother Jace, who has an even better hit tool that could play 1B or grab Elijah Green - OF who is oozing with talent but might take a little time.

Jung being a # 1 obviously has the inside track on 3rd any chance Sherten Apostel does anything next yr with the big club ? Maybe a position change. If he can hit big league pitching should be a spot somewhere .

They might trade IKF this offseason to either the Yankees who appear to be interested or possibly as part of a deal with Oakland for Matt Olsen. I could see him being included if a deal is made.

If not, he might get the early shot in the season at 3B if Jung doesn't start the season in the show.
