Leighton Vander Esch is playing so bad he has no business being on the field whatsoever. This guy has turned himself into Bobby Carpenter 2.0. He doesn't play with any aggression especially at the line of scrimmage. He never attacks and always seems lost. I'm not not sure if it's the neck but I never see he get behind his pads and just smash someone. The "Wolf Hunter" has turned himself in a scared Ostrich in a very short period of time and when it comes time he will no longer be a Dallas Cowboy and very possibly out of the league next year.

Hes not bad...hes just not good either....he does just enough to not be a real liability on defense

theres also no "pop" in his tackles, when he hits a rb he goes for a ride and lots of times he ends up just falling to the side to make ankle tackles and misses those

he isnt good in space either..

maybe im old school but if your linebackers arent the best tacklers on the team they have no business playing

The good in space is really important
I agree on LB being able to tackle
That’s their primary job
He also doesn’t read the hole well at all
That was what made Lee so good
He was really good at reading and filling the hole
LVE let’s it come to him

I said the same thing he just doesn't have football awareness! Sean Lee would have put that in his back pocket.
If I recall correctly, I believe Sean Lee led all our defense in INT's one year. He certainly knew how to catch the ball.

Saints - 26 Rushes for 153 yards.
Vanderesh - 1 Tackle 1 assist. Big fat 0 on everything else. Ugh!!
I'm so sick and tired of watching this dude on the playing field stealing valuable oxygen from his teammates. He's slower than slow and when he looks like he's in the neighborhood to make a tackle the idiot FALLS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One thing I noticed on the sideline last night was how there were NO teammates around the dude when the players were slapping each other's backs and high fiving each other after the "D" came off the field. The great thing is he's GONE after this season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember when he was a rookie running sideline to sideline, making plays. No clue what happened.

Peyton Manning couldn’t toss a football past like 20 yards after two years from the the neck fusion surgery. And he’s not a LB colliding with runners and OL players and the deterioration is setting in. LVE probably trying to get his first contact off the rookie deal and gonna retire afterward. But nobody going to offer him anything if at all.

The average career, if I remember reading correctly, of an NFL player during vertebrae fusion surgery, let alone neck surgery, is around 2-3 years, but that says nothing about deterioration in play. You can still have a roster spot.

It’s not a fall from Grace, it’s basically the reality of the neck issue he had in college that caused him to take fall in the draft anyway.

If he’s healthy, he’s really good on the field. Now the body can’t do what the mind wants.

On the Cowboys section of NFL Shop today, a picture of his jersey was featured in "Retired Players Gear" and I was screaming like a banshee laughing so hard.
