AND he's blocking back towards his own goal line so it should have been called by the rule if that's what it is. But now look at everyone trying to bail the refs out like they were just calling a fair game. What's different about when I do this? Lol.

I am not going to argue it should have been called, but I will argue that the call was legitimate based on the rule book. People are using all kinds of examples that do not apply. According to the rule, the blocker must be moving towards his own goal line or parallel to it, AND he must make forcible contact to the defender using his head, shoulder, or forearm. Maybe it is a dumb rule, but it is the rule.

As predicted, our fans are all “yesssiir, that was the proper call!!!”

We’d be on page 33 of a whinefest had that same play been called against the Cowboys.

See the blocked punt and fumble recovery in the Broncos game if you want proof.
What a stupid post. You chime in on post #5 and no one has said it was a proper call or a call that should be made.
Hey don’t let facts get in the way of your agenda. You never have before…

What a dope.

I agree. Of course, the Cowboys have had far more than their fair share of dumb rule consequences played out against them as well.

He wasn’t leading and initiating a hit with his helmet, he was blocking with his arms and helmet, like every OL or guy picking up a blitzed does. I mean you can basically see the linemen blocking 99 in this video making contact with the helmet, while exploding with their arms.

You don't block with your helmet.

There are blocks like that in every game and they don't call it every game. Regardless of the 'rule'.

Only the NFL can make a rule that doesn't account for a player to see the hit coming and call it a blindside block. But it's not necessarily the rule that's bad, it's how it's applied and officiated. And as usual, like garbage. Does anyone think this rule was meant to be applied during pass blocking? But leave it to one ref to *******ize the spirit of the rule.

After that call on the saints, I was completely prepared to have TP's 58 yrd run called back for Malik Turners block in the backfield...I don't see a whole lot of difference between MT's block and the Saints FB's block. I am totally glad we won, and Refs are part of the game, kind of like a Joker or wild card. They can swing games, and that kind of sucks but it is what it is...you truly do win some and lose some...

Here is a link to TP's 58 yrd run...

Hey, I'm all about the rules, no doubt. I usually post them and they say what they say, dumb rule or not. I'm being semi-facetious in that people are fine ignoring the minutiae of the rules on a correct call against us like the Waller no-catch vs. fumble and now they're ref supporters when the letter of the rules favors us. Just funny to watch the twisting.

You're right. Turner basically trailed the defender and blocked him in the back while also blocking towards his own goal line. Could have easily been a call. Despite the crying, we DO actually get away with some here and there. Lol.

These are the types of fair-minded posts I enjoy seeing on these boards who can admit we get some and we lose some without some grand anti-Cowboys conspiracy being the focus to always shoehorn us in a positive or victim direction solely for benefit. Unlike the Taysom Hill arm going forward thread where people can look at video and outright lie about what happened to keep to their "we wuz robbed" narrative. I have no respect for that kind of nonsense.

We’re all aware of the rule. And for the most part, it works. Just need to find a way to tweak it so that ridiculous call doesn’t happen again.
