Why do you either have to be a Hater or Homer?

How can you be great but far from elite? Lol. If you are far from elite, you are not great.

Also, there is exactly one elite QB in this league. Brady. And the list ends there. Don't name any one else besides him.

And I love the "proven recently he is not clutch". Stop. Being clutch is not short term ability. Every QB goes through stretches of not as good play. You don't lose and gain clutch. You can be clutch and be in a funk. The same as Fitzpatrick. He is not a clutch QB just because he had a few game stretch where he went off. Same as Dak not being clutch because his last month has not been his best.

Salary cap hell? Lol. The cap rises constantly. Salaries rise every year. We are not going into salary cap hell because of Dak.

It might be in your eyes that Elite and Great are just a hair away, but I don't see it that way. I also disagree about Brady being the only one worthy the mention. To me Dak and Romo fall in the same tier. As for Dak being Clutch I never bought into that. I don't know how you define clutch, but if you are talking about a month this year, then thats not clutch. To me Clutch is being able to win in close, big games at critical moments against worthy adversary. I mean some people here will say Dak is clutch when he beats up a very bad Giants team in a game. To me you prove you are clutch in big games, especially playoffs games, winning when you need to win consistently.

The member here named Alexander pretty much had me pegged, by labeling me as a "Cowboys' Enthusiast." I tend to pretty much agree with that label, since it fits. His posts here have been pretty rare lately, causing me to wonder if he's still an active member. I couldn't find him on the members list, although, chances are, I simply overlooked it.

I prefer to be a Realist/Homer to some extent but if pressed, I'd have to admit to leaning somewhat leaning more to the homer aspect. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't be quite as "enthusiastic." I can also readily identify with those who find our FO far too self-satisfied in their managerial endeavors.

Normally, I'll avoid confrontation with those critical of the players in most cases, since we're all entitled to our opinions. Occasionally, I'll argue if it seems overdone. The main thing to me is the team, first and foremost. I think most of us are sensitive to the welfare of the team as a whole, with rare exceptions from the so-called "trolls," who never fail to increase in numbers during the most difficult times.

I don't get it.

If you say anything positive about Dak you are labeled as Homer.
If you say anything negative about Dak you are a labeled as a Hater.

Why can't we as a Cowboy's fan who likes the boy's and their players just offer up
observations and critiques of Dak or the Cowboys without all the blow back ?

Something has clearly been wrong with Dak since the calf injury and I am very concerned.

If it does not get fixed before the playoffs we will be one and done.

Assuming we make the playoffs of course.

I think he is either still suffering from the calf injury or has another undisclosed injury.

I sure hope whatever the problem is, it can get corrected soon.

For the record I really like Dak as a person and player and hope he can get back to his old self.
As a Cowboy fan, there are only a few other Cowboy fans that I like and respect. The rest of the fan base is unbearable, even on their best day. That is the reason why Cowboy fans are widely hated among other football fans.

Sports debates show do it, national news outlets do it, with them everything is either back or white. Debating from these standpoint give higher ratings but in actuality all matters are really just shades of gray.

The other thing with the sports debate shows and national news is that they hold on to their original position even when shown information to the contrary. For example I was not a Dak fan until the 2019 season, that's the year he became the a qb that could throw all the passes and threw for almost 5k yards and 30 tds. See with more info I changed my opinion.

Those two things happen here and that's why the conversation are not constructive. For the last couple of years I've been locked in to the Cowboys youtube community and supporting and contributing to them because they really do their research (all22, contacts) and the debate (callers) when there is one, leads to learning unlike on the Zone.

I still come back and check in here for breaking news but my visits have reduced about 95% since the Cowboys youtube community has grown. It's just more civil.

I don't mind criticism, what I do mind is words like trash, idiot, moron etc....I consider fans that use words like that to be haters.....or, if you don't like that word...you can call them trash, idiots and morons....lol!
Especially those that don't know what they're talking about and are just talking out if there behinds...

I'm a homer and fans like me go to far as well....most of it is just a protective mechanism, but we talk out of behind too.

For the record, I'd rather have a few drinks with a homer than a hater.
I talked out of my behind quite a bit yesterday after my child bride’s game meal of red beans and rice.

On a serious note, it’s frustrating to see fans boil a team game comprised of 70 or so members down to a single player. The obvious target will always be the QB, but there are other candidates. Every participant was a a part of every win and every loss. Those fans that want to make it about a single player need to go watch golf or singles tennis.

Because in 2021 there is no middle ground on any issue. There isn’t any tolerance for differing opinions. So everyone gets grouped in with the extremists depending upon your point of view for each discussion.
Well said. Admitting one’s wrong is seen as a weakness or a flip-flopper.

I think the vast majority of members here fit neither label.

I am a Homer only to the extent this is my team but I don't let my heart rule my mind with what I see on the field. Prescott makes mistakes I call that out.

People are people and they decide on who they like and don't like based on their own perceptions. There are some here that do not like Prescott as there were some that didn't like Romo. The same has existed for Elliott, Bryant and even Witten.

What I don't get is why fight that battle? No one here is going to make someone that doesn't like Prescott or Elliott like him. And the reverse is true.

Can you imagine what this would have like with the Morton-Staubach battle, Danny White and even Aikman-Walsh?

The name calling is childish and silly but it will not stop. And it's not about the team as much as it is the poster. Anyone disagreeing with their perception gets called a Hater or a Homer.
There certainly were spirited debates on Aikman and Walsh. They were just callers into radio talk shows then. Aikman was the dumb jock and Walsh the “cerebral” QB.

It’s just a sign of the times. It’s also a sign of the internet . We have somewhat forgot the ability to reason back and forth. the desire to be right emboldens some behind a keyboard that would use a different approach pre- internet .

some post stuff just to anger the other side. I have tried to reason with both sides now I just laugh as it’s not that serious

the game day threads are a joke because the emotions run the highest there

Dallas will be in the playoffs and I don’t know what will happen but I guarantee you if we don’t make the Championship game it will be because of the 40 million dollar man missed 1 key throw

no matter how the rest of the team performs. It’s all about who you like or don’t like . It jades your football acumen . If you have any

Dak Haters say stuff like Dak is not accurate even Troy Aikman has stated during games and media spots that Dakota is accurate and more...the Stats prove the point.

All QBs miss throws or have bad games!

How do you have a substantive debate with a Dak Hater?
