Let's assume, Dan Quinn doesn't leave for another HC position. What is still needed to transform this defense into championship level?

Although the scheme has changed, let's go look back at the legion of boom personnel in Seattle where Quinn was their DC:

DE-Avril, Bennett (Gregory, DLaw if both are back are comparable, think DLaw can kick inside as well)
DT-McDaniel, Mebane (more space eater run players then pass rushers, Osa fits, need for another one)

LB-Wagner, Wright, Smith (1 superstar, 1 good linebacker who can play all the spots, need that 2nd LB)

CB-Sherman, Maxwell (We have Diggs who is a ballhawk like Sherman, jury is out if we have our other starting corner on the roster, keep in mind we are more of a man press scheme now)

S-Earl Thomas, Chancellor (I believe Kearse is a similar player to Cam, can do it all inside the box, yes, we need a legit FS and doesn't have to be as good as Earl.

Based this comparison, summary of what I believe is needed to make this D into championship level:

-Need to resign both Gregory and Kearse. Figure out how to also retain DLaw.
-Find another quality space eater for the interior of the DL
-Draft a quality LB who can play next to Parsons, but also has the ability to multiple LB positions
-Need another star DB and a quality role player, doesn't matter which position

2 key pieces at LB/DB and a few good role players

One week we put it all together. The next, this looks bad or that looks bad. Doesn’t matter if it was Dak or Romo or JG or MM.

what’s the constant? Until that is removed, it doesn’t matter.

Let’s see what happens these final 5 games especially against the Cardinals. I think this could be a Super Bowl defense with our pass rush and our ability to get interceptions. What concerns me is we have average to below average defensive tackles. Take Parsons away we are below average at linebacker. The safeties are above average if we get Wilson back. We have a good cornerback group. The defense will go as far as Parsons, Tank and Gregory takes us.

3.

Run stuffing DT. This is a much improved position from years past. But we still are vulnerable up the middle.
MLB. LVE is garbage
Free Safety. Still need a ballhawk and somebody who can tackle
To me LB, FS are the two biggest needs. Think we have some prospects are both corner and dl

Let’s see how much the defensive tackles improve with both Gallimore, Hill back as well. Think poor linebacker play is the cause for our poor run defense at times

The next four games is a great way for defense to find its footing. The Arizona game will be the final exam.

Question.. Who is this team that has a championship level D you speak of?

Dallas can defend as good as anyone in this league RIGHT NOW.
Are they good enough to carry this team?

We don't have the Cap to pick up the missing pieces.
Wait for Dr.Jerry to draft them.......:muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley:

Kam was born & raised about 15 minutes from me but Jayron Kearse has played as well; if not better than his best year. As far as rankings go for his position; Jayron is 3rd in solo tackles, 2nd in targets, 4th in receptions allowed, and has 2 picks. He has a 77.0 pff grade (the same as Derwin James) and hasn’t missed any playing time. This kid has been exactly what we’ve needed on the backend for a long time. Hopefully we can keep him.

Kearse is like a budget Jamal Adams. You get the same player for way cheaper.

I don’t like Kearse when he has to turn and run but when things are in front of him he is a really incredible player.

We need another LB. I’m not sure whether I’d prefer a thumper or an athletic sideline to sideline LB to go with Parsons. Cox might be the sideline to sideline type that’s good in coverage. I hate that he got injured. We also need a big run stuffing DT. I hope Bohanna can be that. He’s only a rookie and hopefully will develop into a force. Time will tell.

Question........DLaw vs Gregory
You can only keep one
Keep in mind Gregory probably asking $12-15M or tag him

I'm asking coz I'm no longer seeing BOTH returning........too expensive, especially considering Parsons alone has elevated this D with BOTH ON THE SIDELINE.

Dallas wants linebackers that are borderline safeties.

You can find thumpers I’m free agency for cheap. Nobody values that style of player anymore.
