I 100% would have taken JOK in round 2. In the Draft Zone I was saying that I thought he was going to be great in multiple threads. I believe he is what the modern NFL LB should be. Fast and aggressive to the ball, and is phenomenal in coverage. Even after taking Parsons in the first, I would have taken JOK if he was there in the second. Getting the additional 3rd from the Parsons move back would have allowed me to double dip at LB and still get a corner in the third.
Like some here have said, the Cox pick in the fourth mitigates much of the disappointment of missing out on JOK. Cox is very good in coverage and is going to eventually help out a lot. It just sucks that he’s out now for the year. He was going to play more and more as the seasons went on. Had he not torn his ACL, the thought of JOK playing with Parsons wouldn’t sting quite as much.
As for Joseph… I thought that physically, he was close to the best corner prospect in the draft. Athletically, that guy is special. However, I had concerns over his mental makeup and wondered if he could put it all together in the pros. He is the type of prospect that I tend to shy away from in the first 2 or 3 rounds, but to be fair I didn’t get to interview him and look at his background like Dallas did. For all I know, the team might be perfectly comfortable with him and without the nagging injuries, he could have put a lot of the questions to rest. We just won’t know until he stays healthy for a bit and gets some real snaps at corner.
So, while I’m excited about what Joseph can be in the Dallas secondary, I want to see him doing it on the field before I’ll call it the right pick. I hope he has his head on straight and can utilize all of that God-given talent for the team because he could absolutely help what is fast becoming a pretty good defense.
