I know its been quite some time since the Boys had some impressive interception totals. Right now they are on a pace to get 27 interceptions as a team.

Funny thing is 27 interceptions isn't close to the 81 team. I believe everyone knows about Everson Walls 11 interceptions in 1981, but in that same season Dennis Thurman had 9 interceptions and Michael Downs had 7 interceptions. 27 interceptions between three DB's?!?! The team had a total of 37 interceptions that year. Just incredible. The height of the Thurman Thieves era.

Sad part is San Fran broke our hearts in the NFC Championship Game that year.

Fellows was a rookie and only played Special teams in 81. Charlie Waters was still there and had 3 interceptions himself, which in recent years, would have led the team.

Good point about the 1981 pass rush. Makes me think if Lawrence, Gregory, and Parsons are on the field together, the pass rush will be definitely a problem for turnover prone NFC East QB's and there could be possibly be an uptick in INTs.

My memory is fuzzy, but I believe they had 3 ints against Joe Montana in the NFC Championship game that we lost in heartbreaking fashion.

The San Diego Chargers had 49 INT’s in 1961.

They ended up losing the championship game 10-3 to the Oilers despite picking off 6 passes. The teams combined to throw 10 interceptions that day.

Even back in those days you still needed offense to win. You got to put points on the board.
