When the time comes it will be less about what position he plays and more about the plays he makes and how he leads the defense.

By the time of his extension, the pretend leaders like Demarcus Lawrence will be gone and Micah will be the true alpha dog of the defense, if not the entire team.

We have already seen he makes plays no matter where they line him up. You can't label him a DE, LB or whatever. He is a playmaking alpha dog. That's it. And that's how he will be paid.

His extension will be around $30M a year when the time comes. Only injuries will prevent that
Speaking of Tank….isn’t it about time for him to come off IR and bruise his vulva again and be out for the rest of the season? Good times.

But why would a structure swiss knife role and contract figured into a prime time player like Parsons is looking likely to be ?
because of DE vs LB ?

When the negotiations time comes for Parsons, i tend to believe he is gonna be garnered and tailored towards the top rated defensive players
regardless of position ala TJ Watts , Aaron Donald, Von Miller .and more likely Khali Mack who has been DE and OLB .
and yes he'll far surpass the contract numbers we gave Dlaw.
If he continues as he has he will be the highest paid defensive player in the nfl
And deservingly
He just does everything

Fifth year option, trade him for a 1st and draft his replacement. That's what you've got to do on defense in the cap era. Keep drafting well.

He's a PA boy true and true and a diehard Eagles fan growing up. I think he'll want to test the free agency waters but ultimately he will take a market value but team friendly deal with the Eagles for his second and big money contract.

I normally wouldn't be thinking so far ahead but when I saw this it made me think how complicated his negotiation might be down the road.

You wonder how the Cowboys will handle this. Will they want to pay him as a LB? Will Micah want DE money? Is there a big difference between the two? You literally have nothing to use as a benchmark as he's a unicorn.

Might seem odd I'm even concerned about this now but reading our obituary over and over again gets old.

I have no doubt it'll get done but it may be the most unique and challenging deal they've ever done with a player.

Let's wait.....an injury can change everything.

My argument on Micah's side is he is giving you Mack type pass rush but also giving you a LB too. So why should his pay be based on Mack or any other pass rusher at the time? They don't do all that Micah does. He's two players in one. This is the conundrum.

because one is the highest paid defensive position in football. i don't think it will be all that complicated unless they want to be stupid and risk losing him or pissing him off. only complication i could potentially see is if they tried to tag him as an lb and it lead to some sort of jimmy graham-esque arbitration

I love Parsons but we need to make him play out his rookie deal, take the 5th year option and franchise him for 1 year then pay him off.

Aslong as he keeps improving then im fine with whatever they give him

dude can play run stuffing LB
dude can put his hand in the ground and be a dominant pass rusher
he can be a blitzer

You are sitting here wondering "what type of contract" Parsons will get when there are guys like Von Miller and Micah Parsons that have showed you what type of contract he will potentially sign. Yet, you go on about Taysom Hill. He's going to get paid based on what type of sack producer he is. I can't make that any clearer. Darthseinfield tried to tell you politely but you still think its some damn "conundrum". This is what happens when you stop making posts related to Dak and Wentz I see. I don't like it go back to those posts.

On the 1st year of a 5 year deal and you're worrying about the wrong stuff.

like it matters..Right....the minute this kid gets a second contract he will be enemy #1 to many on this forum anyways...

If his skill/play level increases the next contract might need to include a 1% ownership stake and 2 weeks of yacht usage.

Parsons was a Steelers fan growing up. Both his parents were & still are, Dallas Cowboys fans. That said, the young Lion King will retire as a Cowboy. Egals.... :lmao:

Suppose the Cowboys decide to give him the franchise tag. Does he get the average of the top three LBers or the top three EDGE?

Although he's been designated a LB, can he make the argument that he spent more downs playing EDGE, if that were the case?

Perhaps the NFL should just invent a new position for Parsons, the DBA (designated bad azz).

We get him for five years, at that point some other team will sign him to a bad contract.
