You apparently contradicted yourself.
If words do not play on the field, then why should McCarthy's words fire up his team? And if his words fire up his team, how would we measure that? How do YOU measure whether his words fired up his team? By how loud they yell in the pregame pep talk or how they play on the field?
And if words don't matter or translate to field play, why utter the prediction at all?
