LVE has been having neck issues since 2016. I don't recall neck injuries ever getting better for football players, but maybe it's possible. All I've been thinking about reading this thread is DeVonte Holloman, and how he had good enough sense to retire. I think LVE is done. This has nothing to do with a contract...it's fear.

DQ/Edwards should at the very least rotate in Gifford and/or Bernard to see if they can do better because if they can't do better than that crap #55 is delivering the GM needs to step down.

Spot on. If those two are no better than the excrement that LVE is laying on the field then why are they even on the team?

I think Dallas will keep either Neal or LVE next season.

both are UFA and their stats are almost equal.

they will have to over pay for one of them.
I believe we will replace them both.

Our current LB corps, minus Parsons, is sub standard. I watched some of LVE’s rookie highlights and that guy no longer plays for us. He’s gone. This new LVE is passive and the “Neal at full time LB” experiment is not panning out.

We will probably see if Bernard or Gifford can give us some thing leading up to this stretch run. I think they both play on special teams and I noticed them both getting some reps in the Saints game. I hope one of them is just brave enough to do just stick their head in there and fill a gap. That’s all this defense is missing (and an instinctive FS), IMO.

I was done with this dude the second he was telling Parsons on the sidelines to "not try and make all the plays". Then the way he acted after his under performing BFF was released I was hoping he'd be gone with him ASAP.

That's loser mentality and I'm glad that Parsons could see through that and not listen, hopefully he has distanced himself from that losers advice.

LB will be a major need for us in next year’s draft.

Seems strange that’s the case after getting a generational LB in this year’s draft.

It just goes to show how truly awful our linebacker group was. Jaylon Smith can’t even find a job at vet minimum. And Vander Esch will be lucky to get a call after this season based on what he’s putting out there on film this year.

Credit when and where it’s due, I thought LVE had a solid game today.
Played extremely physical and was where he needed to be. More of that and the weakest group on D won’t be a liability.

I like Neal’s physicality even though he doesn’t make many splash plays. Another positive of his is I rarely see him getting beat like a drum in coverage. Prior LB’s had this issue.

Props to LVE for today. I'm not convinced that he can replicate that level of play consistently but it would strengthen the team if he does.

On today's Talking Cowboys the subject came up of who has been underperforming and who really needs to step up. Leighton Vander Esch was the unanimous choice. It was pointed out how he is constantly going backwards to try to make plays instead of attacking. They said this is why the Cowboys didnt pick up his 5th year option and how he has declined since his rookie year. If the Cowboys are going to make a run for the playoffs, Vander Esch needs to step up, or be replaced. I'm glad to see him being called out publicly. He is either afraid to get hurt or trying to save himself for his next team.
I thought he played decent today
