Yes, I did overstate, and badly. But the bottom line is McGovern has been a downgrade from Williams. That much can't be denied.

I'll try to rewatch last game or two. It seemed to me that defenses were attacking TB by bringing the player opposite CMcG across to TB's right side. TB wasn't passing his guy to CMcG and pick up the other guy. Or was late to do so. That player was then between our guys & could easily look like they had beaten CMcG when in fact it was a late switch by TB.

I have been saying it even when Williams was the starter.

McGovern is best when he is at RG but won't get to play because of Martin.

Williams is by far the better LG and it's not even close. You guys that kept saying Williams was worst in the league and McGovern was so better need to come eat crow and let us know that you allow your hate to judge your football knowledge instead of what the eyes and stats tell you.

Stats are yes stats # 52 is the most penalized player in the NFL this yr. And I don’t “ hate “ the guy just sick of seeing drive killing “ HOLDING 52 Offense “ ….

McGovern had the league's highest percentage of successful run blocks about 3 weeks ago. He is a talented guy, just very inconsistent.

He absolutely should not be starting over Connor Williams though... some of y'all have probably seen by now that Williams is actually pretty damn good.

Leonard Williams is probably out against Dallas . This should help the run game and give Dak more time in the pocket and Kadarius Toney out Covid protocol. Good week to clinch a playoff berth .

Neither Connor is very good. It’s pick your poison. At least McGovern doesn’t commit as many penalties.
Conner was performing a somewhat good level it was just the penalties which out of all the snaps he would play...it was once or twice a game. McGovern is screwing up more but because its not penalties its not getting as highlighted.

Well let's not forget, Williams did cost us some nice plays with his stupid holding penalties. So "pick your poison" is about right. Our rungame was alot better with him on LG and McG as FB. So I also think we should go back to that line up.

But the coaches are discussing this very topic and they must have reasons too for keeping McG at LG. I wonder what they are...

As long as Connor McGovern is incapable of blocking effectively, the Cowboys' offense will sputter. The Cowboys are poor with him as a starter. :omg:
The alternative is that Connor Williams will probably continue to draw penalty flags when he's the team's choice to assume a starting role at LG.
It does seem that the Cowboys will be forced to pick their poison between those two, if and when there comes an appropriate time for a change.
The situation, apparently, leaves some inventive soul to decide if anyone else is able to resolve the current ineffective circumstances to change.

He’s a bust.
Not a bust, a bust is a player like the USC Tackle taken by Parcells who never played a single snap in the regular season. He played well against TB in the opener as the RG, think that is his best position. LG needs to be more mobile and hit moving targets, this is where he has struggled.

yikes, yep I'd say the experiment is over. I hope the coaches do too.
If it was up to me I'd put Collins at LG and Steele at RT. We need some muscle inside. Neither Conner has it.

Man I’ve seen so many breakdowns of mcgovern . I’m not talking about 5-10 plays either. He makes Connor williams look like a pro bowler. He’s so lost out there

He’s had other issues besides penalties. That position is a weak link with either player.
Yet Williams was our second best run blocker. Put him back in and fine him $10k every time he gets a holding penalty

It's not all about who gets knocked back. McGovern is stronger without doubt, but he's less mobile.

It's funny that people would put so much blame for this offense on a very spare LG not playing anymore. As if Williams would fix it all.
