I understand it. But it still stands they get the 10-day break the following game. The problem is that EVERY OTHER TEAM that plays a Thursday game gets 10 days off after it.. Only the Cowboys have to play another game 7 days after playing a game on 3 days rest. And of course their opponent. If you don't understand the physical toll that takes then I can't help you.
Cowboys Franchise not complaining (at least publicly). Everyone knows they're not giving up the holiday game. Same with Detroit.
Let me propose a solution.
All 6 teams playing on Thanksgiving have a home game the Sunday before that is the earliest kickoff for their time zone = 1PM EST \ 12 NOON CST \ 2PM MST - for Denver Broncos \ 4 or 4:30 PM PST.
No late Sunday afternoon or Sunday night starts.
Those six teams will not be scheduled to play the following Thursday night.
Since 2016, the Cowboys have been scheduled to play following Thursday (either as home or away ) every year. Meanwhile the other team that annually host their Thanksgiving Day game - the Detroit Lions - never has been scheduled to play the following Thursday.
That is on Owner Jones and his FO to get that changed through the league commissioner/ office.
