Unlike past iterations of Dallas defenses that too often folded under the weight of injuries or the spotlight of expectations, something happened in Lawrence’s absence. The Cowboys were forced to be creative and young in spots. And suddenly it got a whole lot better. To the point that when Lawrence returned in December, Dallas went about dispatching three middle NFC teams (including the Washington Football Team twice) in a fashion that turned expectations upside down.

What if the Cowboys franchise that we thought would be celebrated as a boat-racing offense was actually going to define itself as the league’s biggest playmaking defense? And what if Lawrence — the $20 million a season man — wasn’t even the best player on the unit by the time he returned?………..

Lawrence called the unit the best defense he has played with in his career. And that may very well be the case by the time the season ends. Both Diggs and Parsons will likely land on the All-Pro team. Parsons will be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. If Diggs isn’t the best cornerback in football, he’s in the conversation. And Gregory, well, he has become a cog on what is arguably the best defensive front in the NFL when Parsons plays on the edge and Lawrence rolls inside to defensive tackle. It's a foursome that looks very similar to the New York Giants' Super Bowl-winning defensive line that carved a path to a championship when they started rolling defensive end Justin Tuck inside to tackle and playing him between defensive ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora.

So great to see that side of the ball come together. The defense gives them a fighter’s chance of taking this thing deep in the post season. Take the pressure off Dak and that offense to score 30+ to win games.

Really starting to get a good vibe about the ‘21/‘22 Dallas Cowboys.

You would just be a pure hater if you didn't realize this defense might be the nastiest unit in football. You win in the playoffs by pressuring the QB rushing 4 guys. This team can do it rushing 3. I don't think there is a better squad in football. So happy that I'm not a negative person on this forum, because this season is gonna be way to fun to be negative. Crow will be eaten, and I will be serving.

DQ is going to get HC job offers. I really really really hope he stays in big D.

I hope he stays too… going to depend a lot on what jobs open up. He has been a HC before, and he seems like a smart dude— so I would imagine he would consider roster fit, management, FO philosophy, franchise legacy etc…

The reality is, being a DC here with Dallas has more pop and sizzle that being a HC on a bottom-feeding team.

I think DQ is a teacher at heart, and he loves his players. I could see him staying for another year or two and getting his pick of a job down the line.

He is having a blast with this D— and heading to another team where he has to be a walk around HC and not as hands on with his D— simply may not appeal all that much

I know it’s just Washington but I feel like last night the Cowboys finally put it all together.

The defense has been balling - as he wrote, when Parsons lines up at end, this is probably the best defensive front four in football. The corners are being aggressive. But the biggest change of course is all the turnovers.

But it’s the offense that finally clicked last night. Dak was indeed in a slump and last night he broke out of it. I still think that sometimes he’s afraid to take chances down the field, but he’s playing well enough to say that this team could legitimately win the whole thing this year.

If we play them I’m sticking Diggs on Adams the whole game.

Honestly I would risk a few roughing the passer penalties to put Rodgers in pain. And stepping on his injured toe is all in order. It is the playoffs. You have to get in the opponent’s head.

This is the reason why I fear no one come the playoffs. GB in the cold will be tough because Rogers is amazing but I like our chances. We are a well rounded team.

Agree! I’m excited about this team and it’s mainly the D is just so aggressive and fun. Yes they might get burned or give up a play but we also make more plays, turnovers etc and get after people. Love it!

i haven't been keeping up w/ cornerbacks in the league like that this year, but who's playing better?

I am guessing Ramsey and jC Jackson. that stat of most yards given up will be a huge problem.

It is good to see this unit playing so well. They have legit playmakers on every level of the defense (DL, LB and Secondary). DLaw, Gregory, Parsons and Diggs are legit.
