funny enough, i thought he might be out of the running after also recording only a single tackle last week, but then Watt did the same. gotta finish strong

Fair enough.

He'll probably get it and I'm just being biased with Parsons.

Parsons will get his one day.

I want Parsons to win it too, but Watt is having another phenomenal year.

If Parsons finishes strong and closes the gap on the sacks or even nabs an interception, being named DPOY may be a reality.

Then again, that assumes Watt isn’t able to do anything these next couple of games.

Watt and Garrett aren't 30 yards down the field breaking up passes either.

Parsons is just better than both of them.

i agree, while Watt and Garrett are great players at their positions….Parsons is almost as good as them at their positions plus the best LB and affects a game in many more ways and at all three levels of defense…
Parsons not winning DPOY would be a joke IMO.

You are absolutely marginalizing what Watt and Garrett bring to the table.

Why do you think Parsons deserves it over Diggs?

IMO an interception is worth 2-3x that of a sack. A sack only eliminates 1 offensive play. You could argue it eliminates 2 as they have to make that yardage back up the next play. If it was a first down sack, they still have second, third, the punt. Even if it’s third they still have the punt. An Int eliminates all downs, and most of the time deletes the punt as well. If only comparing those specific stats, 11 picks is like 25+ sacks.

not saying that’s all that defines them, but it’s an incredible feat.

somehow the goons have figured out a way to minimize his season.

I have no doubt that if he rushed the passer full time like Watt and Garrett he would have 25 sacks by now. That’s very scary.

He's the best defensive player in the NFL.

Watt has more sacks, but that's all he does, he doesn't impact the game anywhere else. He had 1 whole tackle yesterday and zero QB hits. That's it. One tackle.

Garrett is the same as Watt. All they do is rush the QB. Watt has 54 tackles 17.5 sacks and Garrett has 31 and 15 sacks.

Parsons has 79 tackles and 13 sacks while being a part time pass rusher and the goes 30 yards down field to break up passes.

How can anybody look at DPOY and not think that Parsons is the clear choice?

He not better than Aaron Donald as much as I like Parson. Donald is the Rams entire defense, Parson is a luxury on the Cowboys. Parson doesn't get double team or triple team as much as Donald and it way easier to get sack as an edge rusher than a lineman. There are other edge rusher close to Parson, there are none at is remotely close to Donald at his position. In fact, I can't even name one other lineman that is 2nd to Donald, because the gap is so significant.

And yes I'm a huge fan of Donalds and want him on the Cowboys.

I’d vote for Diggs over Parsons and TJ Watt.
Diggs is threatening to have as many INTs as Parsons/Watt have sacks! It’s been decades since anyone had so many INTs. It’s crazy. I’m not even saying Diggs is necessarily our most valuable defender. I’m just saying his year so far is more impressive to me than what Parsons and Watt are doing. Someone does what they are doing every year.

Remember Defensive player of the year doesn’t always have to be the best player or the most valuable. To me, Diggs is having the most impressive performance.

In regards to watt and garret both the teams are sputtering. That has to account for something. Parsons helped change this defense from one of the worst to the best in one season. Ask yourself without him where would we be?

hell he was off the field one drive yesterday and WFT scored.

Fyi I not saying that’s watt or garrets fault…I’m saying that where we are in the standings because of parsons has to have some merit

DPOY should be split between Diggs and Parsons. Garrett and Watt shouldn’t even be in the conversation. They both have sacks in the mid teens which is what they get paid millions of dollars to do on every play, while Parsons has similar sacks being a linebacker. Not to mention, they’re both playing on losing teams.

Diggs should be the MVP! He’s doing something that hasn’t been done in decades, while Rodgers and Brady are doing what’s being done every year.

But it’s all about money & the NFL loves to give the award to the faces of the league which are always quarterbacks.

What trips me out is when they say “clear front runner” about Rodgers. No the **** it’s not “clear“.

Yes, but he won't. Rookie bias. They will feel like DROY is enough.
Agreed. There’s a reason it hasn’t happened since Lawrence Taylor. Yes rookies aren’t on Taylor or parsons level usually but it’s still revealing that it seems to be a long time trend.

Based on last year's defense compared to this year, he's got an argument for MVP, imo. He's made our other rushers better and we all know pressure leads to turnovers.

I'll concede the schedule, especially recently, has been pretty soft, but if the defense maintains this kind of play in the post season he's the biggest difference maker in the NFL this season.

I think its very close between Watt and Parsons. At that point I would lean towards a player on a playoff team whose defense is rated #1 in the league.

I think Watt gets the nod this year but after that it'll be between these 2 for years to come. Both of these guys do so much on defense.

If you look at the host of crap we had last year on defense and see the impact Parsons has made on it - he is an easy choice. He has changed the whole culture on that D.

Maybe DQ gets a little credit!

Xavier Howard had 10 last year.

Don't think Diggs stands a change. Last year X. Howard had 10 picks and finished DPOY voting with 3 votes. Donald won with 27 votes, Watt finished 2nd with 20 votes. Watt had 15 sacks last year. I think he gets it this year.
