Randy Moss had 1 good season? Lol..

Angles? Yeah, Moss’s angle was 1 hand catching a pass with 3 players draped all over him.

In no way could Jerry Rice ever do what Moss does. Ever. He is the most dominant player that’s ever played WR.

He’s fast, fluid, can jump out of the stadium, can make QBs like Jeff George look decent, he is the best to ever do it.

But…

I’ll agree that Jerry has more accolades.. No debate from me..

The problem I have is when people say 4.7 40 average athlete Jerry Rice is the best wideout ever but then tell me Emmitt Smith isn’t the best ever when he is the Jerry Rice of RBs.
sorry, maybe I didn't explain it in detail that I should have. you cited one season he had 23 TDs, I intrepreted that as you using that to say he is better than Rice because of one season. Rice did have a 22 TD season... that's nothing to sneeze at.

I did mention Moss is good and he is a HOFer and that doesn't happen by accident.

Rice did have a slow 40 time, but those are so over rated. if speed was key to everything WR, then Galloway should have been absoltuely dominant.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I just prefer rice slightly over moss. that's all.

No, Charles Haley took us over the top!!

Deion was great, but Charles started our Super Bowl run in the 90’s.
I agree that Charles was the missing piece, but deon had more of an impact and was the more domimant player .. if you look back into the past, Charles got us over the hump but deon made us scary. The better player was Deon and therefore my pick.

i want micheal irvin. i wish we had a reciever who can make the tough catch no matter who the corner he is against. this team needs a player that wants to make the tough catch i do not see one on this team right now.

I agree with everyone saying Larry Allen.

Having a guy who could play all pro at 4 different OL positions would certainly help keep the run game humming.

Larry Allen, easy answer.

For defense, The Manster, Bob Lily, Dexter Coakley or Dat Nguyen (would fit in well with this defense) or Mel Renfro/Everson Walls/Deion Sanders. Any one of them.

When I talk to non-cowboys fans about Emmitt, they say he was a great back but nowhere near Barry Sanders. I will say that a lot of them said that Emmitt had a ton of success because of the line he was running behind & DJ. I was too young to actually watch him.

Then I always follow up asking about Irvin and mostly hear praises about him and how good he was. A lot of non-Cowboys fans have told me that Irvin was the best from that trio. Some have even said that he made Aikman.

Speaking of Aikman, I’ve been told by a lot that he was a good quarterback, had accuracy, but he wasn’t “as great as Cowboys fans think he was“. I remember looking up his stats and was shocked how pedestrian they were.

Emmitt had more heart than any player I've ever seen. He wasn't pretty to watch like Barry, but he was WAY more dependable. He never took solid hits. He absolutely demoralized defenses.

Aikman's stats don't correlate to today's game. So, don't look at them through that lens. Aikman made the pass that needed to be made. When things were on the line, he was at his best. He got better and better in important games. Just deadly.

Irvin was so passionate...too passionate...the kind of "too passionate" that makes others believe. You could play with him and not believe or he'd stab you with scissors. All go. All the time.

I hear all the time that one of them without the other two wouldn't be the same. All three of them earned their place in history.

I'm trying to avoid the endless Dak debates, though I might just be fooling myself. So, you can't pick Staubach, Aikman or any other Cowboys quarterback. Aside from that, which past Cowboy player and his position would you team with this offense or defense.

Me? It's a tie between Charles Haley, Erik Williams, Larry Allen and Emmitt Smith.

I gotta go Emmitt Smith. His durability, reliability and productivity at the running back position would make us a better balanced team and even more dangerous offensively. I'm okay with the pass rush, and although I'd take an upgrade on the offensive line, I think we can get by with the line we have, provided Tyron Smith returns.
However, the lack of a running game concerns me. And I believe we'll have to lean more on that in the playoffs.

But that's my take. What's yours?

Hershel Walker or Emmitt Smith

But the truth is that if we had Deion we wouldnt even need an offense.

I disagree and even former players have admitted they couldn’t play the game today at their size and speed. Randy White played between 260 and 270. That’s way too small for a DT in today’s game. There’s no way to compensate at that size on the DL. He even said that when we reached the mid 1980s it was getting tough for him to play at his size. He said the players were getting bigger and bigger. He was undersized when he came into the league in 1975 which is why the Cowboys tried to make him a linebacker.
Aaron Donald is only about 275, no?

Larry Allen on offense to shore up the oline.

Deion on defense to lock down one side of the field and to return punts.

Deion Sanders on one side and Diggs on the other would be a matched set of ball skills CB's that would be a problem for any QB.

Tough….I loved Leon Lett….but with Deion Sanders, Greenbays #1 receiver would be shut down. It’s a passing league.
