DEFENSE
  • Gave up 399 yards.
  • Allowed 7 third down conversions including two in the critical last 4 min.
  • Had one sack and no TO’s.
  • Allowed 35 min in TOP.
Imagine blaming the defense for losing TOP when the offense scored 7 POINTS thru the first 3 quarters of the game.

How many 3 n outs did we suffer thru?

How many crucial OL penalties?

Dak fumble ring a bell?

Cmon man. Give me a break.

Heck, the 2nd offensive TD came from being gifted the ball by the defense and special teams at the Zona 32.

Exactly.

You don’t use all your resources on offense and then blame the defense when the offense is completely inept.

It’s a reoccurring thing with this offense over the years. They go into this shell and make things worse on everyone and they escape blame when it’s them causing the problem.

If that was a dress rehearsal for the playoffs, they're one and done against any team they face.

This is the major problem with this team. Too damned many stars before they do anything.

They knew the Cards were down 4 D starters including 2 CB's so they don't have to bring their A game. OL knew they were down their 2 best pass rushers so why bother to give 100%?

And you know what will make this worse? Behind the scenes, the GM will side with them that the refs beat them, like Lamb, the most overrated WR in the league because it starts with catching the damn ball.

He is nothing but an enabler of spoiled football players that haven't accomplished anything but winning a crappy division.

They deserved to lose that game; they earned that loss.

At what point in the game does the clock stop when the offensive player go out of bounds? Last 7 min of 2 and 4th quarters?

Sorry.. Inept offense was the problem.
yes...and bad OL play....OL holding/false start penalties...dropped passes...wrong routes.....inaccurate throws....terrible play calling...inept offense is a combination of all these things!!!!!!!!!

I know. It’s a old school mentality that people have but it’s not what plays out on Sundays.

Juggernaut defenses don’t exist. The game is about the QB more than anything and their guy was better than ours.

Good QBs will get theirs 9 times out of 10 regardless of your defense.
I understand your point. But the great Tom Brady wouldn’t have won the SB last yr without that Bucs D. He threw 3 picks in the NFC championship game. His defense was what carried them to the SB. My point is you can’t expect even great QBs to carry you every single week.

Tom Brady has won 7 Superbowls. Tom Brady just needs Tom Brady. The defense is just an accessory to Tom Brady. Tampa’s defense isn’t even that good they just had a good game.

Wow. So the defense doesn’t matter to the success of our team? Gotta disagree with you on that one brother.
The defense does not matter because Dak does not play on defense. If Dak was the punter...they would say the punter is the key to the game.

This isn’t anything new Catch. The offense has been doing this for more than a decade. Remember the Minny playoff game? We just seem to suck in big games and I don’t know why.

In Jerry's "Hollywood" construction, & financial structure of this team, not all 3 phases are of equal value in assessing blame.
Jerry endorsed, & funded big $$$ on an offense unit which far outweighs the allocation, and financial investment (outside of Dlaw) to the defense, or special teams.

As such, the offense's unit's share of criticism, and failure vastly eclipses, and obliterates the other two phases.
The offense failed.

Awarding money to inferior players that do not deserve it, and overrating talent has been a hallmark, and trademark failure for Jerry for the last 26 years.

We wasted the timeout because edmunds wasn't called out of bounds when he was to stop the clock. I do agree with everything you said though.
We also wasted a TO because Kingsbury "pantsed" MM with the fake, "fake FG". That was an embarrassing and costly lack of preparation.

Penalties were also a big one. How many times was a stalled Cards' drive rescued by a boneheaded penalty? How many would-be first downs did we lose out on because of a penalty?

The 3 reasons we lost that game yesterday- we played poorly in all 3 phases of the game:
  1. Offense didn’t play well enough.
  2. Defense didn’t play well enough.
  3. STs did not play well enough.
Btw, none of the reasons include the refs.
Let us examine why in these three phases of the game we failed:
OFFENSE:
  • Had 3 dropped passes.
  • Dak’s fumble in the 4th qtr.
  • Terrible run blocking by the OL. (Avg less than 3 yds per rush)
  • Poor pre-snap communication forcing hurried snaps to beat the play clock.
  • Was 3-11 on third down conversions
DEFENSE
  • Gave up 399 yards.
  • Allowed 7 third down conversions including two in the critical last 4 min.
  • Had one sack and no TO’s.
  • Allowed 35 min in TOP.
  • Allowed a backup WR to have a career day including 2 TDs.
  • Forced to use a critical timeout in 3rd qtr that killed us in the end.
  • Had 4 min and some change and the end to force a stop and didn’t get it done.
ST’s
  • Greg “Lou” Zuerleine missed a make-able 43 yard FG in first qtr.
  • Gave up a critical fake punt conversion in the first half on Cards 91 yd drive.
NONE OF THESE REASONS INCLUDE THE REFS. Yes we had some bad calls including that missed fumble….welcome to the NFL! If we hadn’t wasted a timeout earlier we could’ve challenged that.

Let’s all be adults here and admit…we got outplayed in all three phases of the game. That is why we lost.
Yep, its hard to admit that the Cardinals were the better team Sunday.

You mean “our guy(s)” as in defense too? The defense was terrible yesterday. So was the offense. That was a team loss yesterday.
I just can't get that worked up against the defense.

All the money is in the offensive side of the ball. They are touted as elite..as in best 1-2 offenses in the league. Kyle Murray is a mobile QB whuch always gives Dallas fits. They were held to 25 points and 3 of those came via a turnover in Dallas territory in the 4th on a drive that had a chance to tie the game.

The nfl is set up to favor the offense. You are right that the fake punt, def penalties, dropped int were big factors, but having 7 points in 45 minutes for an elite offense against an undermanned defense brings those factors more in play and I argue more inexcusable

That was bad call. But we allowed Murray to escape and pick up a FD on 2nd and 10 right before that.
Yeah, he’s fast. And good. He’s bound to make a few plays with that speed and he beat us.

But…
How does a ref not see him pushed directly out of bounds? It’s a very obvious boundary call and I really can’t see how that’s missed. I mean this literally—how does someone miss a simple call like that?

And I get your point. We gotta clean things up. But damn, so do the refs and some of these calls are weird.

As far as I’m concerned it’s the same problem…this team lacks good coaching…
