Is there a rule in the NFL that prohibits Dallas to throw deep in a game?

Rewatch the game-Catch17. Dak had Coop wide opened but checked down to Zeke. Coop is getting frustrated. I never seen a quarterback that doesn't have that go to receiver. Staubach had Drew. Aikman had Irvin. And Romo had Witten. Dak seems like he has no guy he can go to in the clutch. Even Quincy had Bryant. It's just damn curious what's going on. Does Dallas even practice offense anymore???/

I can’t put myself through that game again.

The excuse that Dak just doesn't get time is played out. How many qbs don't get time and make something happen out of nothing?

Dak is simply taking too long to read or decide what he wants to do like run. Have you noticed he constantly steps up into the pocket for a sack?

I think this may be the best he is ever going to be. I hope I am wrong.

I agree and he doesn't have a receiver he trust. When Dak was a rookie he went deep all the time. Coop seems frustrated. Lamb thinks he's a star:facepalm: And Gallup is just Gallup. I think the guy we need out there is Turner. Given the chance I think he can become a star.

I really like Wilson. He reminds me of Beasley. Dak threw to him a lot. Maybe we need a Beasley type of player. Schultz is good but I really like Jarwin. If for no other reason than he is a decent blocker. Plus a big enough guy to catch Dak's high balls.

I think there are two rules: 1) coverage and 2) protection. Not sure but I am quite sure that is codified law when it comes to football.

Kidding...I get where you're coming from OP.

Yea. It’s called the: “Our QB is a coward and won’t throw deep” rule.

There is a kernel of truth to this: whenever there is a free play due to a defensive offsides, Dak winds up and throws deeper with some authority.

Joe Burrow and a rookie receiver destroyed KC. They knew it was coming and couldn't stop it and him. Our offense has no plays like that and some are saying saving it for the playoffs. Where else have you ever heard such nonsense but in Dallas:facepalm: Lamb and Coop one catch each the first half. Who does this?????

100. Need deep threats and routes. The opposing secondary doesn’t worry about deep pass. Easy to play d

Dak needs to take off the training wheels. Dak tries so hard not to throw picks so he never goes for it when he should. He's always going to play against a stacked line if he doesn;t start throwing down field.
Yeah the only time Dak let's it loose is the 2 minute drill. That's why I keep saying we should run a no huddle offense all the time.

I agree! The hurry up offense works well with Dak since he doesn't have time to overthink things.

To throw deep in a game????? I mean Dallas offense has to be the most simplest offense to prepare for. As a corner you don't worry about them going deep. Basically play physical up front and their Oline will crumble. Or get called for penalties. Running game worry for our opponent is over. So the only thing left is Dink and dunk all the way down the field. Defense just lays back and wait for whoever to catch the ball and tackle them. 2 yard gain.2nd down same thing..two maybe 3 yard gain. Now you looking at 3rd and 5 or 6 and the defense just blitz against the weak azzzzzzz OLine. Moore never sneaks in a screen to make them pay. And that DUMB wide receiver screen to Lamb is going to get taken back for 6 if they keep running it. Everyone knows it's coming and it's just plain luck the Arizona corner dropped the ball on the play. Just can't understand the love for Kellen Moore. He's good versus bad teams but good teams hand him his hat practically every time. Maybe McCarthy just don't trust his receivers. Somebody said something about pulled hamstrings:facepalm: Lamb now seems to think he's made it. Cooper is part time. May show up. May not. Gallup hurt. Wilson and Turner maybe our only hope. I'd love for them to throw one fly pattern to Turner. Just one:facepalm:

That's the key......"their Oline will crumble or get called for penalties." Under those conditions, you don't throw deep. You get rid of the ball in a hurry, run for your life, or get smothered, or worse. LOL

This.

throwing deep requires time that Dak isn’t getting.

I agree OL is not the same as the last few years.

why dont we have plays where we get the ball out quick to a position and WR be situated, after all we have leagues best wrs isn’t it ? Quick outs , cross routes ,slants within 3 secs …. Why not ????? ( after all we have a genius in OC )

To me it is a combination, we have overrated Wrs and overrated qb . When the OL beats up average defenses , Qb throws everywhere and WRs shine , with above average defenses that doent work. Not to mention, there is no threat of run as teams can handle our run game without crowding LOS.

They would be better off setting up the deep throw with play action by running more of the offense from under center and handing the damn ball off 25 times per game. Whatever happened to the screen plays?

Remember Dez absolutely dunking on the entire league until Dak arrived and then he “couldn’t run routes.”

Turns out Dak just wouldn’t throw him the ball down the sideline.

Back in the Dez Days, Dak just wasn't that accurate downfield. In 2016 he threw a lot of short horizontal routes.
