You bring up wedge blocking and the first 2 replies are Dak sucks. So stupid and off topic. It's a good question...

Trolls gonna troll man.. I'm still waiting for someone to provide some insight about why teams don't do it? I mean I was a running back, wide receiver and DB. I never played line for even special teams so I will not claim to know the ins and outs of line play. Maybe there is something I don't know..

For the ones that keep bringing up his money, it’s none of anybody’s business except his and his boss.

You can criticize all you want to, but the whole “you would expect a $40 million quarterback to…” bull**** isn’t really an argument.

Patrick Mahomes (16 Games):
Yards: 4,569
Touchdowns: 35
Interceptions: 13
Rating: 98.8
———
Dak Prescott (15 Games):
Yards: 4,154
Touchdowns: 32
Interceptions: 10
Rating: 100.9

There’s your $50 million a year vs $40 million a year quarterbacks this year. I’ll give you the Super Bowl and say that’s a $10 million per year difference.

So if Dak sucks where does it leave Mahomes? Defensive coordinators get paid too.

I think if we go back to integrating the run game and sticking with it even if it’s not working early on, we’ll be back to form. We’re neglecting it and becoming one dimensional. You have to have a run game in order to be successful in this league.

The Chiefs put Hill in motion. Its a fake jet sweep, hand off to the RB, who runs off tackle right behind Hill's fake. Hill runs wide while the RB takes it up field.
It works every time. And that's why I say we should use Pollard like the Chiefs use Hill.

Moore is just not creative enough or smart enough.

As you like. Then I’ll ask you, if Cousins and Dak are trash, what is Mahomes? They all have similar numbers and Mahomes plays in a MUCH weaker AFC.

Just for clarification, I obviously don’t think Mahomes sucks.

i hate to admit and i certainly suspect you do too but maybe Dak sucks?

he asked a question about the oline blocking for a rb. The qb has absolutely zero to do with this exchange and somehow you mention the qb. Are you trolling or just not very smart?

I'm supposed to blame the QB when the line can't block? How does that work? And what am I blaming him for?
I think...as the quarterback and LEADER (do we agree on that?)....it's Dak's job to get with Kellen and figure out a way out of this.

The question some have is...are either capable? There must be some problem with one or BOTH. Why wouldn't dak insist on some other strategy? Because Kellen told him to shut up and run the stupid plays?

And run right at them. I have never understood why teams are able to get away with this nonsense. When I was coaching and teams would try it against my offense to try and confuse my blocking schemes and my QB I had automatics built in to fire off into the upstanding idiots and knock their ***** off the ball. I cannot for the life of me figure out why in the NFL, when you have 330 pound guys poised to pounce and explode into people you don't just do it in these situations. If someone has a good explanation for why more teams don't go ham on defenses doing that crap I'd like to hear it.
or run a draw play with Pollard.

ANYthing with some movement. Like ronnie said we set up then just sit there.

Let's move some formations.....get the oline moving. And SMASH people. Like Pollards big TD when he got hurt? That wasn't a run up the gut. In space...messy.....but SPACE!

Unless we're incapable?

It's because Boy Wonder isn't experienced enough to know this. He's a former QB and is in love with passing the ball.

Ronnie, honestly I feel like pro coaches (college too) try to prove they are smarter by doing dumb stuff that youth coaches know right away there is an easier and more logical option.

This is the part that scares me.. and we who aren't in the meetings can't say if it's more Dak, Moore, the receivers, the line.. whoever.. We just see the results.. The presnap motion is WAY down in these last few games.. We're not good enough to just line up and say "here we come.

You’ll have to help me out on what you mean by wedge block, I’m assuming that means run up the gut and form a wedge around the ball carrier?

you have 2 issues here. first is our interior olinmen are barely 300lbs and more finesse players, no Larry Allen in this bunch. Second is dlines play more side to side than straight up field anymore. Heavy amounts of angle calls, stunts, And blitzes. Dlines in the nfl are too athletic and just firing off the ball can get you in trouble as they most often play half man techniques.

I guess one thing you could do is go super small splits, but then you get the dline all bottled up inside too. I guess I don’t have a great answer to the question, but I’m not sure the solution is as simple as it sounds at this level either.
