We have the huge numbers mostly because our offense has kicked butt overall.

Not so much as we did earlier in the season, but through 16 games, that’s their overall ranking.

I’m so sorry that Dak’s overall success has you shook.

I'm not a Dak hater lol

I've stated numerous times he's above average and 20+ teams would probably love to have him. Also said he's good enough to win us a superbowl. However i mention he's not elite and never will be. He's more a product of the environment

I'd be curious to see the split. First 8 games vs last 8 games.

We know they are middle of the pack in scoring on the road. We know they are middle of the pack in RZ%

I wonder how they compare to the league over the second half of the season, after the league learned to play coverage instead of pressure.

Wasn't it Cooper who commented a couple weeks ago about needing to score from outside the RZ?

Opening night in Tampa was a long time ago. So was the Patriots game where Belichick learned you can't play man and send pressure.

Things have changed.

It’s not Zeke.

It’s not the OL.

That leaves the passing game.

And who’s most responsible for the passing game’s success?

Hmm.

Dallas ranked #2 in total offensive yards behind TB

Dallas ranked #2 in total offensive yards per game average behind TB

Dallas ranked #3 in total offensive passing yards behind TB and KC

Dallas ranked #3 in total offensive passing yards per game average behind TB and KC

Dallas ranked #10 in total offensive rushing yards

Dallas ranked #10 in total offensive rushing yards per game average

Dallas ranked #7 in total defensive points allowed

Dallas ranked #7 in total defensive points allowed per game average

Dallas ranked #3 in total turnover differential behind GB and Indy

Dallas ranked #1 in total defensive INT takeaways

Dallas ranked #11 in total defensive fumble recoveries

Dallas ranked #1 in total defensive takeaways

So in spite of your attempt to celebrate your Messiah Dak by creating a thread giving him all the credit in the world for Dallas' success, stats would seem to indicate that Dak is being aided by a Top 10 rushing game and a Top 10 defense......but you keep showing your Dak love as usual.

So the threat of Zeke and Pollard has no bearing? Yes. It's a passing League and this is the case everywhere.. but running game plays a huge part! That #1 scoring offense puts up in 2 weeks time or this stat line is useless!! January football.. it would be nice if that #1 carried over.
so threat of 463 yards in 11 games...hmmmm yeah...I can see that

It's the 33 TO's from the defense and multiples of those TO's lead directly to points, with many others putting the offense in scoring range. That is quite literally why the offense is the number 1 scoring defense. Just like they say the best offense is a good offense. It's also why almost all games correlate to who wins the TO battle.

Dallas Cowboys average per game points scored Games 1-7: 31.57

Dallas Cowboys average per game points scored Games 9-16 (week 8 excluded as Dak didn't play): 29.75

So it would appear that even with an additional game the Dak led Cowboys have averaged less points per game the second half of the season.......so I guess the OP wants to ignore that fact.

Just removing all the defensive scores (which oddly count in the offensive ppg stat) would drop us to 4th or 5th
Let alone all the other turnovers.

Correct as Dallas has scored 5 defensive TD's this season but that is yet another fact the OP ignores because it's all about Dak love for him.

Yes, it’s football and everything affects everything. We know.

Did you know that the offense’s success helps the defense create takeaways too?

These mental gymnastics to try stripping Dak of credit is hilarious.

The starting QB gets little to no credit for the team being #2 in yards/game and #1 in points/game?
Of course the QB gets some level of credit for the offense, but I dont think he has been a difference maker overall. Early on Dak was a legit MVP candidate, the back half of the year it really feels like a JAG QB could have had similar success. We beat up heavily on bad teams, and struggled against good teams. You can’t seriously look at the last several weeks and say anyone on this offense get credit for consistently great play. The running game wasnt there, the passing game hasnt been there, the oline has struggled, the play calling leaves you scratching your head at times. The only thing that has been consistently better than average has been turnovers from the defense and special teams....in addition to 33 turnover we had 3 blocked punts as well. Thats 36 times this year (more than 2 times per game) we have either scored from our defense/ST or given the offense an extra possession.

Our best offensive games happen when we run the ball well. There is no denying that, I would guess that is generally true for every team in the league.

If a team just has to defend one or the other, it becomes much easier to defend.
the way to look at it is, when we run the ball well on 1st downs...when we struggle on first downs running effectively (I don't mean every down, but collectively), then you are always in predictable situations of 2nd and long and ultimately 3rd and long.

also in games that were already decided by the 4th quarter, we ran the ball a lot in 4th quarter to run out the clock...

WFT - 25 yards of the 108 in the 4th
Giants 29 yards out of 125 in the 4th
WFT 25 of 122 yards in teh 4th
NO 28 yards in the 4th and we had one long run by Pollard for a TD
Atlanta 22 yards out of 114 in 4th quarter.

I only listed a few games that were already decided by the 4th.

in games we struggled running effectively on first down, we struggled. Dak is better in play-action plays, when you can't run, those plays are ineffective as defense just drops into coverage. add to it the OL protection issues we have been having and Dak gets jittery......in those situations his footwork goes out the door and he becomes inaccurate.

Here's another stat for you. The Cowboys have scored 484 points this season. This is including points the defense scored directly. In the 5 NFC East games and Atlanta. All teams I think we can all agree are pretty poor, they scored 256 points, which is 52% of their season total. So in games equating to roughly 37% of the Cowboys season played they have scored 52% of their points. This isn't even including other teams that aren't good like the Raiders, Panthers, Saints and Broncos (whom they only scored 16 against). So, take from that what you will.

You’re breaking the season up into fragments to make your argument. That’s silly for a number of reasons.

Overall, through 16 games, the numbers are what they are.

If Dak’s been so average since Week X, then guess what? That means he was REALLY good prior to Week X if our rankings are still that high.

Our D/special teams sucked vs Arizona, right? So no, even those units haven’t been “consistently better than average.”

Psst, one other thing: good teams beat up on bad teams. That’s how you tell them apart. This obsession with stripping credit for our team beating up on bad teams is just odd.

There isn’t a team in the league that consistently beats other good teams, otherwise they’d be huge favorites to win it all. Parity.

The we idea that one playertsh credit in an offense that routinely plays 13-15 players a game is orddee.

Heres a test:; could we put any one of these players on Houston or Jacksonville and make them a top scoring offense?

This forum sometimes….
