K Greg Zuerlein definitely on the hot seat with Dallas Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones

Hey if a missed FG first quarter when it was 3-0 not 7-0 is a momentum burner then Dak needs better pre game speeches
Cute. This has nothing to do with Dak. I'm sorry if it disappoints you.

The problem is Jerry not putting his foot down against McCarthy and especially Bones Fassel for continuing to coddle and favor the inconsistent Greg Zuerlein.

After the Cowboys 3 point loss to the Cardinals on Sunday night, Dallas Cowboys owner/GM had this to say Tuesday morning about K Greg Zuerlein:

“I think the most important part of a kicker is consistency," Jones said. "And it’s not consistently missing.”

Read why Greg Zuerlein is on Jerry Jone's hot seat...

PS: Personal note: Jerry Jones should have kept K Lirim Hajrullahu "just in case" because of Greg Zuerlein's inconsistent leg rearing its ugly head once again right as the playoffs are right around the corner. o_O

What do you think about all of this inconsistency at kicker with the playoffs 1 game away from starting?

Discuss...

Don't think a better kicker is available
Would address in the off season

Ok that’s surprising you put so much emphasis on a missed FG but don’t seem to put much emphasis on a QB making elite $ with dump offs to the tight end and more three and outs against a banged up Cardinal squad. Hey Jared Goff and the the 2-13-1 Lions scorched this Cardinal group . That should concern Cowboy fans more then is Jerry going to fire the kicker last game of the season .

The whole thing is overblown if you think about it.

Why do we even kick field goals? Because the offense didn't get the job done. Its our consolation prize.
In this case we missed a 3rd and 4 and added a penalty to make it a 3rd and 9.
Didn't make that and ended up with a 43 yard kick.

Not even a Scott Norwood or Billy Cundiff kick.
More like a Roy Gerela first half Super Bowl miss, or a Mike Mercer KC Super Bowl footnote.

He missed a first half attempt. His only attempt of the game. Never got another chance to make up for it unlike the offense that ran 57 plays.

If it were a last second game winner, I'd agree it was bad. It wasn't. Roy Gerela missed first half kick in the Super Bowl.
Pittsburgh still beat Dallas 21 - 17.

So why do you expect more of a $1 million kicker than you do of a $40 million QB, a $20 million WR, and a $15 million RB?
(We ain't alone......only 4 kickers have hit all their XPs and only 6 of the 16 kickers with 30 attempts have hit over 90% of their FGS)

You are delusional throwing around the word hate . If an elite paid QB can’t come under scrutiny then this is homer ville . Keep punching down at the kicker though .

I have been a Zuerlein apologist but can't excuse the miss against Arizona...that was bad and definitely his worst miss of the season. There are no other options though - people thought the guy that filled in for him earlier is better? Well he missed a 46 yarder on Sunday too. Brett Maher also missed an XP for the Saints

Dan Bailey was the exception, not the norm - outside of him, this franchise historically has not had luck keeping a kicker for many years. We run through them every few years once they burn out.

Wrong thread. This is about the kicker. What don't you understand about that?

Because Zuerlein keeps missing FGs and extra points. He's literally contributed to 2-3 game losses. Can't afford that in the playoffs where your sole job is to kick a football in between the uprights.

9 points against KC that was our entire offense . A 56 yarder to win in the final seconds in Los Angeles and so it goes . The time to “ change kickers “ was earlier then week 18 heading to the playoffs next week . Whatever you do Jerry , keep the punter next season ok even if he’s up for a raise.

In other words 7 points going into quarter 4 is a small fraction of FG kicking blame against the depleted Cardinals
Exactly! He did contribute to a few wins, as well as losses. If we did most right on both sides of the ball, then we can make an argument. But I'd like to know why we only had 7 points going into the 4th against a team that rolled out bums at cornerback. That's the real issue. Let's say he did hit the field goal and the game is tied. Then Kyler would just methodically work his way down and kick a walk off field goal. We hadn't shown much of an ability to stop them. Case and point is the final drive where continued churn out yards.

You know very well why Hajrullahu was let go. It's because of Bones Fassel's infatuation with Greg Zuerlein. Heck, Hajrullahu was good enough for the Cowboys to bring him back and try to hide him on the Practice Squad. Too bad the Panthers stole him from us, so clearly, the Cowboys wanted to keep Hajrullahu.

Quit acting ignorant.

You’re the one who’s acting ignorant. You pretend you know more than the team. Hajrullahu has never attempted a field goal in the NFL and you trust him to make a critical kick in the playoffs? Lol

I have zero confidence in him. He is too erratic.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say I’ve gotta look away from the screen whenever Greg’s kicking. Jerry should have had Zeurlein make a bee-line for the door a long time ago.

I do my homework while you continue to spin you know more than the team and the experts. Show me one team that replaced their kicker heading into the playoffs? You would rather go with a kicker that’s never kicked an NFL field goal than one who’s been kicking under pressure all season for us. Lol That’s what I call ignorant!

Lol. Once again, shut it and go do your homework before you talk. You look ridiculous.

You’re the one who looks ridiculous and needs to shut up. The other day you were disagreeing with all the experts on a controversial call, claiming it wasn’t controversial and that they were all wrong and now you’re acting like you know more than the FO and coaches. Appears you’re on a mission to make yourself look ridiculous. Mission accomplished! Lol

The pitch option to the running back last few mins was painful to watch . No outside containment .
