Come on man, you cannot compare straight up numbers between 14 and 17 games seasons. Going to have to switch to some sort of average.

They played 12 games before moving to 14. The 12 game seasons was when they first made a big deal about 1000 yd rushers. Meant a lot more then than now. Each era takes on its own persona…more games, different rules. It’s comparing apples to oranges.

Not meaningless but yes can’t compare them. They’ll be easily compared going forward until they add new games. Happens all the time.

No you don't. It all depends on how you judge the records. You simply can't compare players. Eric Dickerson has the rushing record for a single season. But not better than OJ's for 14 games. It's just the record for the season.

Football is not like baseball, where records mean everything. Football is about wins and losses.

Funny how records/stats are meaningless when they pertain to Dak but not Wodgers.

Meanwhile....Dak & Wodgers are the only QBs this season to pass for at least 4000 yards & 35 TDs w/10 or fewer INTs. BOOM!

Not a Dak fanboy, but he played 16 games this year. So, his franchise record is valid.

That said, you cannot compare eras. Different eras played under different rules. The game was far more physical and violent in the 70's and 80's. The rules implemented to cut down on injuries resulted in more prolific offenses and offense numbers.

Being the best at something matters, goals matter, achievement matters. Those that want to give everyone participation trophies would have you believe otherwise. Don't listen to them.

Jim Brown is back at number 11 on the All Time rushing list, Bo Jackson and Gale Sayes not in the top 50. But it just doesn't matter, those three were as good as it gets.

I go with what I saw and if before my time what others saw.

The new records are as valid as the old records. Games change. Rules Change. Players Change. etc etc...

Records will be broken. Its a fact of life. Just because a player is no longer sitting in the Pole Position in the record book, it does not lessen their accomplishments because they have been passed by.

The nfl likes saying records are broken, and celebrating those current players.

They dont care if it is fair or accurate. Create hoopla and sell the product.
What they dont realize, is the product is starting to look bad.

The endzone celebrations we are seeing was promoted by the nfl. I thought it was the players, but they have endzone cameras for that purpose only.
So they thought fans would like that lol.

No doubt.
But people will soon sweep that under the rug.

One record that is “apples vs apples” is Cooper Kupp’s triple crown
Most TDs this season
Most yards this season
Most catches this season

Numbers from others dont matter in a stat like that
