How a lot has changed in that time. Almost stepping out of the Narnia wardrobe and returning 5 minutes later to see all that's changed including the venue. John Madden and Pat Summeral called the game. I was about 13 months old. The Cowboys play in a completely different city from this last one, as do San Francisco. The Triplets were here, and this was the last NFCC that Jimmy would coach as he'd be gone after the Super Bowl.

I can Sears & Roebuck guarantee that they will show "the catch" a million times before, during and after the game!!!

Ironically, I’ve always thought that the 1994, 38-28 playoff loss to the niners was Aikmans best passing game in his career. They fell so far behind that running the ball would take too long so Troy threw the daylights out da ball......but the defense couldn’t stop the niiners after the fast lead

Isn't that now known as 'garbage time stats'?

I agree. We spotted the 49ers too many points to catch up but Troy threw his arse off in that game. I thought that was the best team the Cowboys had in the '90s, it's too bad history does not reflect that.

The Cowboys, 49ers, Vikings and Rams went at each other’s throats in the 70s. Whenever I see one of these teams on the same field in the playoffs against the Cowboys it makes me very nostalgic. There’s just something about seeing the Cowboy white unis lined up across from these teams that takes me back to my childhood.

I hope MM shows film of TO posing on the star ad nauseum to our players.

Not only that, I'd bring in every former Cowboy that's played a playoff game against SFO to explain to the current players why this rivalry is so meaningful. I'm talking bringing in Bob Lilly, Staubach, Danny White, Drew Pearson, the Triplets, and round it off with Charles Haley who played in both locker rooms. Talk about motivating the team and telling the players here is how you become a permanent part of Cowboys lore.

You know? It's interesting you say that cuz all but the Vikings are back in the playoffs. It's just a shame the Vikings aren't in. I wonder when the last time was that all four of these teams were in the playoffs together. That'd be a fascinating scenario. If Rodgers goes to SFO, maybe they we can get the 70s back with the Cowboys, Vikings, Rams, and 49ers back at each other's throats every playoff where you know we're going to face one of those old foes every time we go to the playoffs.

Early 70s for SF.

They were terrible later in the decade.

But yes, Dallas, Minnesota and LA were the big NFC teams when I first started to watch.

Remembering my childhood and studying the team history before watching.....I'm surprised they didn't have more titles under Coach.

They came very close MANY times.
