Nothing wrong with him going for 1k. He fought through injury all year, let him hit his mark. I'm glad MM gave him a shot at it. Zeke I'm sure is greatful to the coaches. If you can keep your players happy that's a good thing.

I wanted Zeke to rest against the Eagles and was not happy to see him start..... Then I became more ticked off to see him in there in the 3rd quarter.... When I found out he was still in there in order to reach the 1000yd/year mark I became outraged.... Seriously!! To me, a player putting himself in a position to risk further injury is Selfish and not good for overall team culture. Is it just me or does that seem selfish and individual goal minded/short sighted?? I still think the organization has a culture problem.
Elliott may not be the great runner he was years ago, but he does two things that do not produce any stats that are important for the team's success. The first one is block and protect the quarterback. The second one? He does not complain.

Giving him a few extra carries to get him over the 1,000 yard mark in a game that really did not matter is a nice thank you for that and also allows him to continue protecting Dak while he was in the game.

I would be happy if the Cowboys move on from Elliott after the season, but not because I dislike him. I just think we can find fresher legs that offer more upside at a fraction of the costs.

That said, he has been a good teammate and done what is asked of him even when that is standing on the sidelines while Pollard is in the game.

Complaining about a nice gesture from McCarthy in this case is silly.

I see nothing wrong with it. Other players around the league did the same thing. Brady did not want to come out because Gronk was close to a record. GB did the same thing. These guys work their butts off and no it is not selfish for them to try to achieve goals. What is outrageous is how outraged people are every fricken weekend.

It doesn't matter and is great to achieve milestones/records etc........ until that player gets injured and is out for the playoffs and ruins their teams chances - then it matters LOL

Dak stayed in till he got 5 TDs. For records, they know what they need for personal and NFL records..

When more than half the board wants him gone anyway.

Everyone would be singing a different tune if he would have further injured his knee in the 3rd quarter while trying to achieve the 1000 yard mark! Trust me;)

Destroying the Eagles B team will give us huge momentum this week though. Winners mentality or something.
Worked so well against the cards after that momentum building win against the skins..hope this time it works.

It matters to them, yes injury can happen but you do not play this game scared. My god fans always whining about injuries? it is not your health being put on the line, it is the players. A lot of guys played this weekend that didn't need to. Rodgers played the entire half despite the fact GB had the #1 locked up. It is not a big deal. People come here to get outranged over everything. Then to link it to culture problem? lol Yeah I guess Tampa has that problem as well since they kept players in as did GB who had absolutely nothing to gain by having Rodgers play.

Many of us don't seem to accept Zeke as a legit RB who's still useful, even though he isn't what he was as a rookie. Without him, we'd be stuck, without a chance at the playoffs. Think about that, before taking out your frustrations on a back who does his job willingly and does it well. He'll still be there, willing to do his job, well after 1000 yds. has been achieved. What could it be that renders so many here as malcontents?! We're on the verge of entering the playoffs and still the untimely dissatisfaction?! No wonder so many folks see us as lousy fans! Too many here earn that rep on a daily basis.

It's an ego thing...he knows that's how running backs are judged...and after playing days...write ups always say...10 years, 10k yard, 5 1k yard seasons, etc etc

A RB can rush for 999 yds every year for 10 years and will be relegated to the lower tier just because never rushing for 1k.

Go Cowboys!

Facts!!!

Exactly. They complain when he's in taking carries from Pollard and then complain he would risk an opportunity to take further carries from Pollard. Lol

Maybe the coaches wanted to reward him for gutting it out all year, as well as being the good soldier while he ceded carries to Pollard.

Worst case was we plug in Clements and run Pollard and Clements in the playoffs. I like Zeke, but aside from pass protection I'm not sure he couldn't be replaced.

I'm hoping against hope TP is the focal point of our rushing attack in the playoffs. Zeke still has a role grinding and closing out games. More Pollard early might allow us to pop a couple big ones.

When both have been somewhat healthy Pollard has seen action pretty early in these games.. I think they've gradually worked up to the point where he's in on almost every first series.. I think it would serve the offense well to have both guys in the lineup.. and frankly if it takes Pollard being in the game for Moore to call something other than the delay handoff up the a-gap then I'm all for it. The jet sweeps were a real weapon early on in the season and those appear to have been taken out of the playbook. I am hoping that was just so teams don't have recent film on it heading into the playoffs? We saw a lot more of the off tackle and wide running game this last game against the Eagles.. Dress rehearsal for the Niners? Both their DEs want sacks.. but they do not suck against the run.. However neither is a speed guy so the edges should be available.. We just have to find and block Warner cause that dude is a tackling machine.. Not a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage but he's a pretty sure tackler and always seems to be able to get to the ball carrier.

I was enraged myself, Zeke is a "me" guy not a "team" guy. After the game he even invited JaQuan Hardy to his post game presser to give him a little extra shine after getting his first pro TD. Complete PoS that Zeke is.

The only thing I cared about was our starters not getting hurt. I'm not mad at him for reaching a "milestone" of 1000 yds either. Rumble, you man, rumble. Just keep that same energy for next week, Zeke.

Don't get too worked up about it. It wasn't Zeke forcing his way onto the field. McCarthy was comfortable with him playing. But whether you want to debate the meaninglessness of 1,000 yards in a 17-game season is another thing.

What's crazy is that Zeke finished 7th in rushing this year by barely eclipsing 1k.

Outside of Jonathan Taylor and Derrick Henry, the bell cow running back seems to be a thing of the past.

Wonder if that'll continue.

I didn't like it either but for the opposite and more manly reaction. He should have played the entire game. Shutting it down after reaching 1,000 was weak. It makes me wonder what he really cared about from the start.

It's a coach's decision but these coaches bend to the will of these players all of the time.

I am so ready to move on from Ezekiel Elliott.
