There is only one job in professional sports where you are functioning like a GM with zero accountability. McClay has that job. Why would he look for more headaches?

He has the greatest job in professional sports. If the Cowboys have a great draft, he's lauded as a genius. If they make questionable moves, it's the durn Jones boys fault!!!!

He has the best of both worlds. Booger catches the blame and all he does is get credit. If he screws up, we exclaim "Booger made him do it!!!"

He’s not always perfect but he’s pretty darn good and he was superb this offseason with FA. Last season not so much with FA.

He did however love him some Taco too so it wasn’t just Marinelli’s fault. But I get it. Quinn would have probably loved Taco as well for his length

McClay loves it in Dallas. He’s chosen to stay here multiple times to keep his family in the place they’ve made home. He sure as heck isn’t gonna leave this situation for that dumpster fire organization in NY

Outside of Jones it is said McClay is the more powerful man in Dallas.

Raid the rival Cowboys? Sure, why not? He will be hard to get, though. McClay has rebuffed offers to leave Dallas and he is well-positioned and well-paid by team owner Jerry Jones. A former defensive back at Rice, McClay played and coached in the Arena League, has been with the Cowboys since 2009 and his acumen for finding players is well-respected.

Who should be the next Giants GM? Here are 11 candidates (nypost.com)

Never underestimate ego and a challenge. Going there gives one the chance to resurrect a storied franchise in the top market. Your a hero for generations if you do.

And forced to ‘retire’ if you don’t.

He has one of the best gigs in sports. He is basically the GM, gets paid like a GM but has none of the pressure or scrutiny of being the GM and has great job security. Plus Jerry gets all the blame if the draft etc go bad.

When you put it that way. it is heck of a job. You hit on players you get credit and when a player flops it is all Jerry. lol Not bad

There is absolutely no upside to this for McClay. Mara will meddle just like Jones, McClay will have to take on Media responsibilities and be the Face, stuck with Joe Judge, crap roster and limited Salary Cap.

All he gets is 2 first round picks and a GM title. If he wants to leave his current job for just those two things and the outside chance that he can be successful and build a "legacy" then by all means.

McClay is the current GM for the Dallas Cowboys. He just doesn't have the title and all the heat that comes with it. Lions offered him the job in the past and he turned them down, don't see him going anywhere.

He can continue to do that here... "Rescue America's team from 25 years of mediocrity."

McClay's in a pretty comfy spot. He's got GM offers for years now, but AFAIK he's never really entertained any of them. I don't see him jumping ship now for a Giants job that has more bad parts than good.
