It’s pointless to be afraid of your playoff opponent. Anything can happen.

Think the Giants were “afraid” of the undefeated Patriots in 2007? No, they punched them in the mouth and stole a championship. Play harder and smarter than the other team, and don’t play afraid.

Reminds me of the Seattle playoff game a few years ago. Everyone in the National media had us losing that game because Seattle was tough and physical and Russell Wilson was dangerous in the playoffs.

Cowboys found a way to win that game and they'll win this one as well.
Cowboys win 31 - 17. :flagwave:

If half of our players felt the way some of us do, as their half-hearted fans, we'd have no chance of winning our first playoff game with the 49ers.

I think there's a 50-50 chance for us to come away as winners vs. San Fran, if we perform as we should. Yet so many of us fear such a scenario.

There'd be no point in showing up if our players mirror the fears being expressed here. We might be quite thankful if they don't share our doubts.
We have expressed fervent desires for a playoff run this year. Let's give our guys the benefit of the doubt, shall we? OK, so go, Cowboys!

The 49ers beat Rams and Bengals, that’s it . They lost to Seattle, Greenbay, Indianapolis , Tennessee, Arizona . They have hardly beat anybody . They are basically a slightly less version of the Cowboys with a worse quarterback . Also GMFB picked Washington over Cowboys in their last match up AND Eagles .

I don't understand the concern over playing San Francisco. It doesn't matter how tough or easy the first-round opponent is, if we're going to make it to where we want to make it, we're going to have to beat some tough teams. Did some of you just want an easy draw so we would be a shoo-in to win a playoff game? That's not my target. San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, LA, Arizona ... it doesn't matter. Getting to the Super Bowl is the goal. If we lose to the 49ers in the wild card, then it'll be pretty apparent we weren't getting there even if we had faced someone like Philly in the first round because better teams would have been waiting on us.
Because our recent history in the playoffs. We haven't been past the divisional round since '95. So until we prove otherwise, fans will be scared.

I'd say "apprehensive" in my case. I used to trust the Cowboys in the playoffs but they've lost that trust. There's only one way to regain it, starting this Sunday.

I don't question the idea that we'll be obliged to play our best game of the year to beat the 49ers. What I do question is if we should panic and assume our team can't win by playing at our best. Yes, the 49ers are on a roll and are playing consistently right now, whereas we are not. As a Cowboys' fan, I think it behooves us and the team to support them without spreading harmful doubt that we can't get the job done.
