I dont have to re-watch that play to know the Lions TE initiated contact. No flag for face guarding.

True, but there is a flag for pushing a guy's shoulder while he's trying to catch a pass or tugging his jersey on the route. At worst, offsetting due to the TE pushing Hitchens' facemask.

We have a former Cowboy reffing our game? Oh lawd! Can you imagine if the opposite were true? Plus there's a dude from Lubbock. Guess we're guaranteed a few favors now, eh?

Maybe he resents Dallas. and does the opposite. :muttley:

Yes, I've always claimed off setting was the correct worst case scenario.

Refs don’t make you win or lose. (Said every good coach I ever had and every great coach who wins)
I have to somewhat disagree. Officiating absolutely affects the games. The officials of every sport where officials are involved impacts the game they are part of, it's just part of the game. I think the debate is whether the officials make biased calls against or for a given team which could lead to wins and loses. I believe in most instances, the refs are on the up and up and try to call a fair game. Sometimes my fan emotions can get in the way of that thought process.

Do refs affect games?, yes. Can refs make you win or lose?, not nefariously, but I believe they can be a part of why you win or lose a game.

Yes, they affect the game for sure. Are they THE reason you lose? No way. Bad calls happen all the time. Good teams make enough plays to over come them.

For every game where there is a bad call- take the Dez no catch call- the team could have made other plays to overcome that. Like stop a one legged Aaron Rodgers from running out the last 4 min of the clock. In other words, the Cowboys STILL could have won that game, but just didn’t make enough plays when it counted. The refs affect games. But they don’t decide the outcome by themselves.
im still waiting on a post season game where the refs help us .

not happening .
Hopefully the players and coaches don’t think this way.

I'm sure Alex Kemp will do a good job officiating. They tend to let teams play more without calling the ticky tacky stuff in the playoffs.

i can live with that…..watching any game where it’s constant subjective basketball type refereeing, really kills the pace of the game.

The Dez no-catch was correct as called. I think the better example might be the Cobb catch that was probably off the turf. I wouldn't have called that good. Other things we could have done was not turn the ball over (Murray).

While I agree with you that teams have to be good enough to overcome bad calls. The example you used only serves to remind me of the blatant clothesline holding NON-CALL against Irving, on Rodgers infamous 3rd and 20.

Had that been called its 3rd and 30. Maybe he still converts, maybe not.

But as you said, does it ensure we win that game? No.
