Lots of memories there, good and bad. Too hard for me to just pick one.

This is Bleachers look at most memorable Cowboys-Niners games.

Here's a look of My own Cowboys-Niners all time list.

1) 1993 NFC title game

2) 1981 NFC title game (the Catch)

3) 1994 NFC title game (Kosar to Alvin Harper TD catch)

4) Elvis Grabac upset game (1995)

5) Jessie Holley game (2011)

Great list!! To me my all time favorite game is the 1993 (1992 season) NFC title game. Aikman to Harper to seal the deal. The guts, the intestinal fortitude to call that play when Jimmy did.. I cant even fathom an NFL team in this day 2022 to do what they did. I dare you all to even think of a coach doing that.
What happened was the Cowboys were up 24-13, and were at near the 9ers 10 or 15 yard line, it was 4th and 1, Jimmy goes for it instead of a FG. Emmit gets stopped short. Niners drive down the field get a TD to Rice, its 24-20, 4 something left in the game. Cowboys have first down and Jimmy does not run the ball to milk clock and rely on the defense... This is the NFC championship game, three years from going 1-15, college coach who was given no shot to succeed. Going against Seifert, team of the 80's 4 SB's, Montana in the shadow, candlestick where the fans were crazy, a terrible field where the Cowboys speed was negated for the most part. He calls a first down slant to Harper... ( Irving will say that play was called for him but Harper went to the wrong position.... not important). Harper goes 70 yards and it eventually ends in a TD to Kelvin Martin... 30-20, history is made How about them Cowboys.!!!!!!

Now getting back to your list. I would have to add the 94 season championship game loss to the Niners. We spot them 21-0 lead, lose 38-28.. The BS non interference call still haunts me.... Who knows if we win but 38-35 would make Steve Young choke for sure...... man... what a sliding door moment!!!!!!

- You're right ... i now wished i had added that (Deion Sanders vs Michael Irvin game) NFC title game ...ahead of the Jessie Holley game. (Romo broken ribs) or the Elvis Grbac upset.

cuz you're right... we got so far down and behind to an elite 49ers team. Larry Allen playing RT (Williams had the car accident) but LA was also playing on an badly sprained ankle.
and Emmitt on a pulled hamstring. But that Cowboys did not lay down and die, ..they galiantly fought back.

- And the Deion obvious holding non-call on Irvin only added to the frustration of losing that one.

Ironically Jerry signed Deion to a multi-year long term deal - and snatch him away from the Niners. en route to a SB win the next year ..!!

The guy with the monkey on his back to Jerry Rice. Called back for penalty. Cowboys go on to win. The guy still has the monkey on his back.

Yes, yes you remember alot of those key details.... Larry Allen's rookie year... Emmit had the bad hammy, really muddy dirty gritty game. I want to smack Merton Hanks long neck dance to this day. Niners Floyd and Waters played well. I also remember Steve Young actually played really well. He got Haley on a couple of naked bootlegs that were just killer.
That last second TD where Young hit Rice over Larry Brown was killer, as the Cowboys had the ball a their own 10 and passed three times and didn't use any clock was a killer. The result was a poor punt and the Niners scoring.
The crazy part is until that pass interference I thought they would still win. I mean the Cowboys had beaten all comers since 92, Philly, NYG, Was, SF, Buffalo, GB. That season not having Jimmy was crazy. For a team to go through that kind of turmoil, Switzer was an abomination, Zampese had taken over for Norv, couldn't stand to see him smoking so much in the coaching booth.

That game became THE stamp of statement game for the Jimmie Johnson Dynasty .. that was David vs Goliath, and none of the experts thought we'd go into Candlestick and win over
Rice/Steve Young and Niners Dynasty.

That’s one football, was football. Those games should go down in history. And then beating Green Bay at home. I remember one of the coaches got knocked out on the sideline

Hate the catch game but it was still a great game. 1993 going to their house is one of my favorites.

Missing the 59 burger from 1980 but I'm biased lol.

You also gave Elvis the vowel he missed all his life I'm sure.

They also had some nice clashes in the early 70s that were before my time.

Hoping some of the nostalgists will comment.

I was 10, I remember going outside on the back porch and crying.lol

The thing that really sucked after the catch was White hitting Drew on that slant that would have gone the distance except for a diving ankle tackle.ugh Then sack, fumble game over.

The other loss was just as tough, heck it was 21-0 after the coin toss

- By far ... by a mile ... That 1981 The Catch game ... is still to this very day, the most utter heartbreaking game loss i have ever experienced.
No other Cowboys loss has surpassed that one.... i was just a kid, but i still recall Tom Landry crying tears in a post game interview afterwards.

- Not even the 2016 Green Bay last second FG kick to end the sensational Dak- Zeke rookie year can surpassed that.

I agree my next one would be the catch or non catch II. Watching the video of Romo with his family after the game just made the game suck even more.

Actually it was an inside of the jersey fingertip grab that stopped Pearson but either way, it was really unlucky. The Catch would have never been born if Drew slipped out of that miracle save.

i dunno if Pearson would have pulled away for a TD with his speed, ..but he would have at least ran off to a huge gain to place us in very good FG position to win the game.
- and we would've went on to play in SB and beat Ken Anderson's Cincy Bengals ...

(sigh) one of those " If-Only " moments.... :(

Many of you were not born yet but the 1972 divisional round where Staubach had to orchestrate 2 touchdowns in 2 minutes (Tony Frisch tricky onside kick recovered also) at the very least makes it into the top 3.

In the 90's these guys were right up there with NFCE opponents in my rivalry window. Maybe even higher than any of them for that time.

Beating the 9ers to get to the first 90's Super Bowl was one of the greatest sports moments I've ever experienced, maybe even greater than winning the big dance itself.

Lets hope this bodes well for the future.
