If it's anything other than Washington Red skins....it's BS. Snyder should just come out and say he isn't going to let the lame stream media dictate his franchise....and give them all the middle finger.
Well the small issue there is that Fed Ex told Danny that he needed to drop the name or else.

And, money talks. He ain't THAT rich.

I mean, yeah he is, but amongst who he keeps company with, probably not.

All relative.

Native Americans are proud of the previous name Redsk!ns, because Native Americans are proud of their Redsk!n. In fact, they are probably wondering why everyone else seems ashamed of it. They are who they are, brave, bold and contribute to society with history and tradition, working alongside everyone. As I've said before, they look within at some who abandon their traditions to be disdained, and refer to them as "apples"... Ya know... red on the outside, white on the inside. Once again, they are proud of their heritage and traditions. The Washington organization needs to be bold and brave, and return to the original name, and abandon this hyper guilt phenomenon.... honor them once again.

In 2020, researchers from the University of Michigan and UC Berkeley published a journal article on the results of an empirical study analyzing data from 1,021 Native Americans, twice the size of previous samples. It included Native Americans from all 50 states representing 148 tribes. The researchers found that 49% of self-identified Native Americans found the Washington Football Team’s former name offensive or very offensive.

I still think this is the best possible name for that team in Washington.

Right but this is all just a reflection of the type of owner Snyder is. The way the franchise has been run under him is well documented. A lack of overall morals but this is where he thought he would draw the line in the sand lol. The sexual harassment and bullying workplace culture is OK but you can't use a name that a few loud people over the years have found offensive. But maybe if he is progressive about changing the name people will forget about all the other stuff. Just like if the Jay Gruden emails were released, maybe it would take some of the attention off of him.

Now, I don't blame the fans or the players themselves for the franchise. If they're going to change it I hope it's not something dumb; which I think Redhogs is, but I do get how it would make since with HTTR. Personally, outside of state capitol history, I don't know what they could refer to other than blues/jazz music from a historical/cultural standpoint in DC. I think anything military related is going to make it sound like a minor league team. Washington Football Team wasn't as bad of a name as I thought it would be.

Imagine the meltdown in Washington if Hogs is their new name. They use a fat hog as a logo on their helmet. They have an area in their endzone called the pig pen. Kind of a knock off of the Browns dog pound.

This is by far the best choice for that franchise
The Hogs were a great part - but just a part - of the franchise's 89-year existence -- founded July 9th, 1932.
Even though their stadium is located in Maryland...I would offer the new franchise name be either the 'Potomac' or the "Monuments'.

“During a podcast in September with ESPN's Adam Schefter, WFT co-CEO Tanya Snyder confirmed that the final eight candidates were Armada, Presidents, Brigade, Red Hogs, Commanders, RedWolves, Defenders and Football Team.”

Imagine if they go with Red Hogs lol.

IDK why they don’t just go with “Warriors” and use a spear logo from their throwbacks.

What the hell is a Red Hog? Not even razorbacks are red.

I like Blind Hogs. The they could hire that stupid looking mascot from Ohio State to work Sundays and have their mascot chase him around wearing dark glasses and using a cane.

Agreed, though it won't happen, it would make sense since 2022 is a much different politicosocial environment than 2020 when Snyder made the knee jerk reaction to the happenings in Minneapolis and finally caved to pressure from the wrong side... it appears the neo-woke movement has died down a bit, fortunately. We'll see in November, but I'm pretty confident.
