Let's put it this way. Here's one of the kinder scouting reports about Aaron Rodgers heading into the draft.

"Third-year junior. Scored 35 on the Wonderlic but still played one season in junior college because no school recruited him. "He's been busting his (expletive) his whole life to get to this point and I just don't know how much more he has to give," one scout said. "He's more accurate than (Kyle) Boller but probably not as athletic. He's a better player than Akili Smith. He's more athletic than (Trent) Dilfer was. He's a little more mobile than (Joey) Harrington." Those four quarterbacks also were tutored by California coach Jeff Tedford and played below expectations in the NFL. Do you not think Rodgers improved exponentially from that rookie to the player he was when he won a Super Bowl under Mike McCarthy? Rodgers went from solid prospect/future potential starter (upside expected to be probably along the lines of what Alex Smith's career actually looked like) to top 3 quarterback in the world and Super Bowl champion. All under Mike McCarthy. So McCarthy was let go eventually and replaced by their current head coach who runs a modern offense. How much has Rodgers grown since? Maybe he a little, he was great then and he's great now. And maybe he would have been great with or without McCarthy, but his new head coach hasn't had any more success than McCarthy had with him and he doesn't have the Super Bowl to show for it that McCarthy does.

Of course Rodgers hasn't declined without McCarthy. He's that freaking good. But to act like McCarthy deserves zero credit for Rodgers development from day 1 is just kind of silly imo. Tom Brady went to Tampa and was still Tom Brady, but it doesn't mean that Belichick doesn't deserve credit for helping Brady become the player he is today. The fact is there is always a group of people who will be negative about ANY coach until they win a Super Bowl with us and then they'll be willing to say "oh I was wrong about so-and-so" but are only willing to have zero conviction until that happens. It is a good thing these fans aren't GM's because a lot of you would only be content with hiring Bill Belichick as the next head coach, because McCarthy has 1 super bowl just like every current super bowl winning head coach not named Belichick.

Yeah, I wouldn't interpret or extrapolate anything from a one sentence reference in a press conference. Obviously no context or specifics around the conversation inly leads to wild speculation and assumptions.

Only on the internet can a guy basically offering to do anything and everything it takes to win be twisted into a negative. These people are amazing..

This is the first playoff run together for Dak and MM.
Anyone who worked in the real world knows asking a question like this is not uncommon when you get a new boss and are doing something new together for the first time.

And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably still live in your parent's basement playing video games and munching on Cheetos all night.

You know how I would answer that if I were the HC?

"Dak, what I want you to do is make one of your runs on our first possession, I will make sure Kellen calls it. Only I don't want you to slide, I want you to blast the tackler as long as he's not a DL. The leader sets the tone for the team and not just the side of the team he heads up. I want you to send the message to our own team. We came to play and to win".

I think Shanahan is going to be using this whole "we are the toughest" hoopla to his advantage and have his guys believing it. They're going to try and establish an intimidation factor from the getgo and having Dak deliver a blow is not expected.

It's the Mike Tyson theory. Everybody has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.

I never said they weren't getting along but rather, I questioned as to why Dak had to ask what was expected of him. I'm not the only one, either. There's a big difference between questioning if that was the case than to say it was. What you're contending is just as much of a "nothing burger," imo.

its common....at work, I ask the same question although I have done my job, doing my job and everything progresses as its supposed to and eventhough I do get the feedback that I am doing a good job, but the question is to allow me to do more, or make sure that I can help where I can if needed above and beyond my job, or make sure I am not missing anything else or its to lend support and show support. this was a big nothing burger that fed the detractors for a few pages.....

Yeah it’s got to be a tough week for the Dak bashers. Broke Romo’s TD record. Won the division. Swept the NFCE. Seems to be focused and professional as always. Healthy. Being a leader. Must suck for you.

There are two ways of seeing every question. I've never been a detractor of Dak, so evidently, you haven't figured me out yet. One could easily wonder after a few years together with MM why such a question is necessitated. My question wasn't intended to cause a negative stir from anyone -- that's for sure. I, also, wasn't the only one to pose an honestly innocent question. No need to assume it was done in an angry, negative manner -- a curious manner, yes.
