Thoughts on releasing Cooper after the season

no, he mentally shrinks...come on dude. grasping at straws....

as I said, stats show that in games that cooper disappears, the YPA, YPC are about the same.....CD had 1000 yards. Wilson had 600 as the 3rd and 4th WR. Schultz had 800. Dak had 4400+ yards, good for 7th in the league having missed one game...so he is finding everybody else...

its probably half a dozen of one, 6 of the other...but I know the detractors don't like to spread the blame. they like squarely in one place. reality and facts say otherwise....

This is actually the main reason Cooper isn't getting "#1 receiver" numbers.. He has good teammates.. If he had crappier teammates he would probably get more targets and put up better numbers.. But does that make him any better? Not likely.. He's a great receiver.. I'm not interested in trying to get rid of a great player.. Especially not right in the middle of a playoff run.. We can talk about next year after this season is over..

Amari Cooper has trade value.

Exactly what it is, I would say a 3rd up.

Yes, knowing his current contract.

I wouldn't trade him anyways unless it is for a high 1st.

He is our only true # 1 WR. Lamb is a solid # 2 whether he had more yards this year or not.

that disappears in big games
The Big 3 WR all disappear in games sometimes collectively lets not pretend Cooper is an aberration, Cooper is more a possession type receiver, he is "fast" but he is not a high point receiver, he is a route running technician that makes acrobatic sideline catches. He, Lamb, and Gallup when they were all on the field together the philosophy is any one of them can be the "primary" target, there are are only so many footballs for a talented receiving corp especially if you add a Wilson and Schultz into the mix.

Cooper has been getting hounded by the media and now the league is on his case.

I think Jerry is angling for Coop’s release with some of the public statements he made earlier in the season. It also seems the media attention is targeted, and it could be the team playing PR games.

Theories aside, if the FO is interested in bringing Wilson back and they believe Gallup can be brought back on a 1 year deal, releasing Coop does make financial sense. They could transition 10 million of the cap from offense to defense with that one move.

I really like Amari and his quiet confidence but his production has been down so paying him 21 million next season seems insane.
I would be happy with CeeDee lamb, Wilson, Noah Brown. If Cooper stays fine if not fine. I’ll miss Gallup also. . too many games he is out

this is why it is important to win this year
The way the cap is and the amount we have to pay our QB, means that we can’t keep everyone. As much as I would like to keep Cooper we cannot pay him 21 million to get 70 catches and 800 yds and the money has to go to sign Gallup and Wilson and Schulz and all the FA defensive players including Gregory and Kearse and Hooker and a starting FA LB

that’s the reality

and yes, Dak has a hand in this as well. when he is off, all suffer...but the overall numbers he has produced and others are making catches and yards.....

So what I get is he is not Diva enough, he needs to be more like Dez but not too much like Dez.

He also missed 2 games. He is around his career average for yards per Reception. He is used much differently he is not used vertically that much that has been reserved for Gallup and Lamb. The bigger issue is there have been games where he, Lamb and Gallup might as well be standing on the sideline with the way they got used in games.

My biggest issue with the rush to get rid of good players is twofold.. One.. good players are hard to find.. and two.. all this "what about next season" indicates a glaring lack of ability to live in the moment and enjoy the ride. This team is good.. has had a good season and could be about to go on a magical run.. I have no interest in spoiling that worrying about next year..

Thank you, the voice of reason.

If we do we will see clearly that Lamb is not a real number 1.

I'll reserve judgement on Cooper until I see if he produces in the playoffs. If he's invisible in the biggest game(s) of the season so far. Bye bye

I seem to recall Cooper was pretty good in the 2018 playoff run.. I looked it up: 15 catches for 171 yards and a TD in the two games.. including 9 catches for 106 against Seattle at home.. My sense is dude is gonna git busy this playoff..
