Thoughts on releasing Cooper after the season

Would be a big mistake. Coop is our clear cut WR1.
I agree, without Cooper Lamb, Gallup and Wilson are going against single coverage with their 3rd or 4th QB.

Kind of like how Dez made Laurant Robinson look so good when Romo was playing. Laurant benefited from Dez getting attention from the defense. When Laurant went to Jacksonville as a FA and didn't have a WR at the level Dez was then he struggled.

Gallup? Dude is injury prone, why would we want a broken receiver.
I was going to say this as well, but outside of this year he hasn't missed significant time with an injury.....not fair to call him injury prone quite yet. And if he is injury prone, exactly what is Coop?

Stats lie.

Love Cee Dee and Schultz. Their best games are when coverages scheme to stop #19.

How'd they look when he was out? Exactly.

They dont lie they just dont paint the picture you want.

they dont scheme to stop just Cooper. You can pretend they do.

They looked as bad as when Lamb was out.

Honestly, his decision making this past month could hurt him.team may decide to cut him and keep Gallup. His contract and lack of team decision making may tip,the scales into keeping Gallup and letting cooper walk. Obviously if he goes off in playoffs, forget all that, he will be back.

On paper, I agree. But Ceedee is still extremely raw and has areas that he needs to clean up. His route running and hands aren’t even close to Cooper’s right now
Here we go.... his “route tree” is limited , right? Lol

The Big 3 WR all disappear in games sometimes collectively lets not pretend Cooper is an aberration, Cooper is more a possession type receiver, he is "fast" but he is not a high point receiver, he is a route running technician that makes acrobatic sideline catches. He, Lamb, and Gallup when they were all on the field together the philosophy is any one of them can be the "primary" target, there are are only so many footballs for a talented receiving corp especially if you add a Wilson and Schultz into the mix.
So do all the wrs disappear, or does Dak disappear?

I like cooper a lot, but 21 million next year will make it hard to keep him.
Same here. Maybe he'll let us stretch out his contract n pay him a bet less.

Problem is, we have a ton of good players who will be coming up in the next 1-4 years that we need to keep. We absolutely must keep building the D, and letting good players walk isn't the way.

Maybe he'll be asked to take a pay cut. If he declines, and he might, a trade could be attempted. I doubt that he'll be cut, though. :omg:

Because if we want to keep this contender together and keep improving it, keeping over paid vets isn't going to cut it. Hey, don't get me wrong, I love Coop as a player, but quite simply he may not be affordable.

Hard to keep is in the eye of the beholder. The Joneses can deal with the cap as it changes in the coming year. However right now this team is the middle of a playoff run. Why are people having such a hard time just enjoying the ride here? What am I missing?

Who are the playmakers on the Cowboys offense? I am talking about guys who can make that really big play at a critical point in the game, the kind of play that gets the entire team fired up. The 49ers have Kittle and Deebo. The closest thing to that is maybe Pollard? Cooper is not that guy. Cooper catches those comfortable passes and ho-hums his way back to the huddle. I don't think Dak has great chemistry with him. Dak seems to have better chemistry with Ced Wilson.

I am not suggesting the Cowboys will be getter on offense without Cooper. But I would suggest spending that money somewhere else might make the Cowboys a better team.
