Thoughts on releasing Cooper after the season

Cooper has been getting hounded by the media and now the league is on his case.

I think Jerry is angling for Coop’s release with some of the public statements he made earlier in the season. It also seems the media attention is targeted, and it could be the team playing PR games.

Theories aside, if the FO is interested in bringing Wilson back and they believe Gallup can be brought back on a 1 year deal, releasing Coop does make financial sense. They could transition 10 million of the cap from offense to defense with that one move.

I really like Amari and his quiet confidence but his production has been down so paying him 21 million next season seems insane.

Stop saying dump poo.

Stay on track. The stats say that Lamb is #1. He is better in nearly EVERY category. Facts are stubborn things.
I am not sold in outside route running , in the games when Gallup played there you can see the difference, Lamb is good in the slant and crossing routes over middle and YAC . But he has to learn to get separation on the outside routes beating top Cornerbacks .

you think gallup is coming back from an acl tear in enough time and will be productive enough to replace cooper? lol
No. But he will be back. He may cost less now. And may cost less to draft one in round 3 or 4. Or sign a cheaper one year alternative. Take his 20M and split it into multiple resources.

Oh they don't huh? Prime Time never had 11 INTs in a season. Is Diggs better than him?

Peyton Manning lil Brother has 2 SB rings. Is he better than Dan Marino, who has none?

On and on. Stats lie.
David Garard was once the top rated QB in the NFL.

again. what exactly are you expecting from gallup next season considering he tore his ACL in week 16?

I'm not expecting 1200 yards Gallup, especially since he hasn't been as productive lately. He's still a really good player and I think he'd be close to form by week 5.

Cooper is still the best receiver on the team. He is the best route runner we have and still has excellent speed and strength. Now is he worth what we are paying him is the only question. I don't see him being released unless there are some physical issues going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. If that the case then he may be gone. Hope he shows up in a big way today. We will need him to have his A game. I don't see this as a low scoring game today.

that’s entirely too optimistic for me.

i think ultimately amari restructures or takes a pay cut

at 20M/year he better be the best WR on the team, but this year CD surpassed him. schultz is producing at the same level. he maybe a great route runner, but he is also soft and disappears in big games. that's why I think losing Gallup was huge for us, because he is by far our most physical WR and best down field threat.

this is the biggest game of the year. lets hope MR. cooper decides to show up
