What I'm worried about is Jerry the fan. As encouraged as I was to hear he was upset about the loss, I'm almost equally discouraged by my doubt that he'll address the right problem.

I'm convinced that this team will never win anything until after Jerry is gone. Stephen Jones seems to have his head screwed on better than his father so I have hope for when he takes the reigns.

Wishful thinking, although I can't blame you - what else have we got?

Stephen has only worked for Jerry. Strangely, no other NFL team has pursued him. Stephen will be Jerry 2.0, and his son will fill his role as first mate.

This team is doomed as long as it's run as a Jones family business. They'll make money, but they won't win anything. Enjoy!

I’ve been guilty of having “hope” this year. I’m too old not to have known better.

They were a better team. I've not been encouraged for several years but found myself hopeful about the defense, in spite of their competition. That's really my only hope- that they somehow strike it rich on the defensive side of the ball. The offense is what it is, imo.

Please just let me hope he will be better. It's all I've got left at this point to keep me from going off the deep end with this team.

It's a watered down league made worse with free agency and rules that give the elite QBs all the advantages,,, and there's only a handful of elite QBs at any given time. Honestly I can see this aimless wandering going on forever with the Jones' putting lipstick on a new set of "stars" and firing the coaches every few years. We're basically Detroit Lions fans now.

My question as always is, what is Jerry doing specifically that has kept us from winning a divisional game for 26 years? Because at various points along the way we’ve had objectively elite teams, good QB play more often than we haven’t, good coaches, etc. We’re not consistently deficient in any one thing. It’s just all failed to come together at the right time. But we have absolutely built teams capable of winning a SB in the last 26 years, and for various reasons (different each time) it didn’t happen.

What if Patrick Crayton doesn’t drop that pass in 2007? What if they correctly called the Dez play a catch in 2014? What if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t make one of the greatest throws in history in 2016? Did Jerry cause all of that to happen? Any of those teams could have won it all, and certainly could have made the NFC title game. And half the franchises in this league have consistently been far worse than us in the last 26 years. We’re 8th in win % in that time frame in fact.

So I ask, what specifically is Jerry consistently doing wrong that is leading to our failure all by itself? Vague critiques that amount to “he’s the only whose been here through it all” aren’t good enough.

I'm starting to buy into the general lack of discipline within the organization. Blame shifting seems to be getting pretty bad lately. A lot of talk about refs from players says a lot about accountability, imo.

You think he fires Mike?
I seriously doubt it because that would require JJ to admit a mistake. The last time he fired a HC was in 2010 when a 1-7 team embarrassed him in national TV and he had already picked a successor. I think he hates looking for a HC because he doesn’t pick them based on who is best to help the team win. It’s based on who makes him most comfortable.

I’m very concerned about this too. The ref blaming is a cancer. And the leadership allows it.

Post game press conferences across the league are littered with ref blaming. Aaron Rodgers has done it his entire career. Its ubiquitous.

He may get more desperate in his old age. Should be an interesting offseason.

For the most part, I like Jerry the owner but i have grown to hate Jerry the GM.

His problem is that he runs this team like a mom and pops Store and he becomes attached to players and coaches instead of being a cut throat business man, he often develops a soft spot for his employees.

As an example, look at this whole Dak situation..
Although i disagreed with the decision to roll with Dak for 2016, i understood it. But why didn't they allow Romo to compete in 2017? If Dak was better, Dak would gave won out and we would have had 2 good qbs on the roster and Romo would have been the backup. But they didn't do that because they knew Romo was better. They did'nt want to hurt Dak's fweelings.. That is the problem with our team in a nutshell. Country club organization.

The Eagles drafted Hurts in the 2nd despite having just paid wentz.

The Rams got rid of Goff despite having just paid him because he was the weak link...

But i guarantee that Dak will be kept around no matter what because they "like" him.

Untill jerry stops running this team like the players are his sons, things will never change.

“Jerry the GM” is the Cowboys fan boogeyman that exists largely in our minds and nowhere else. There was a time when Jerry pretty much did what he wanted, true. But that time has long since passed. Will McClay and Stephen Jones have taken progressively more and more personnel control to the point where Jerry is by all accounts, including his own, third fiddle in such decisions.

People blame Jerry because he’s an attention ***** who get son camera and talks a lot, and is this easy to blame. He’s the Queen of England, a really famous guy lots of people have options about but whose power over decisions has become progressively more symbolic.

So even if the failures were always personnel, and they aren’t, there’s a lot more blame to go around.

Jerry, in looking for and selling for new places where the sun is supposed to be shinning, has lied to himself and allowed his own franchise to be in truth, a second class finisher. That belongs to Jerry now, and Stephen his enforcer. No more seasons of free reign from this fan. I promised myself this past off season, no matter how much sweet smoke is blown up our backsides, this was Jerry's accountability season with me, the fan.

He failed, as did his glorious projection...again. They are a show now, and a bad one on the stage.
