The worst part is there is no hope going forward

What Dallas needs is a hard nose coach that will discipline these players and make 100% of the calls. I highgly doubt MM wanted to run Zeke and not Pollard. That decisions obviously came from above.

However

Jerry and Co will never let this fly

NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNLESS the owners change period. Stephen is just Jerry 2.0

This is probably the worse possible way to end the season for Jerrah. There is no salvaging any core on this team and very few fans are going to be sold moving forward. I’m predicting wide spread apathy for the foreseeable future. As fans there is just nothing to buy into.

Starting next season an entire fan base will have to go in with little to no hope of success and nothing on the horizon to look forward to. Going to suck as a fan for a while but it will be even worse as an owner with no more gimmicks left to sell.
Jerry may not be running out of money. But he is running out of options to sell whatever he wants to fans. I think many people in the fanbase had their "come to Jesus" moment if you will about this organization and this quarterback. There are folks that were diehard Dak fans eviscerating him all over twitter and facebook.

What’s bad is you have no idea how clueless you are and even with it right in front of you you’re still not smart enough to see it. Sad really. Ignorance is bliss they say.

2016 Dak, like 2016 Zeke is ancient history. 2022 Dak is closer to 2006 Bledsoe. Drop back, stand still, pat pat pat, disaster. The 2016 offense was a thing of beauty. Powerful and repeatable. The 2022 offense is a house of cards.
You're 3,285 yards and 30 TDs off.

What ignorant is you think there's no hope for this team. Talk about clueless and ignorant...lol

With 22 unrestricted free agents the team is going to look different next year. Going to be difficult to bring back as talented a roster as we had this season. This may have been our best shot for a while and we blew it.

like I SAID AT THE BEGINING OF THE YEAR. Dak is real good Quarterback only if the other part of the offense is real good how many times have you see him botch plays and throw over or under throw easy passes that a problem you can't fix that. Zeke has age for a running back of his style you can't fix that. tyron was a great tackle but his time has passed he is a walking medical problem you can't fix that. the defense is no way disciplined randy gregory has proved that in his off sides and defense holding at the wrong times you can't fix that. dlaw only show up againist inferior linemen you can't fix that the whole offense as a whole from the lineman to the running back is average at best now you can't fix that. so jerry will sell a off season like always hope springs eternal and please buy items and above all buy into my BS

Such gloom and doom! I know it feels like more of the same but if you go back to pre-season expectations I think most were looking at this year as a stepping stone year not "the year". A surprise find at right tackle, a young defense playing better than expected, and a healthy run game got us out of blocks much faster than anticipated and led to a record almost no one predicted (and elevated expectations). Rookies fade, old guys get dinged, we get one dimensional, and guess what, we ended up more like the team most thought we were going to be before it all began. The defense is on the right trajectory and young. Dak is sufficient in the context of a complete team. The OL and running game will have to be fixed in some way for the team to go to the next level, meaning playoff wins. Part of a good running game is avoiding penalties that force longer than necessary down and distance. As long as we have a defense trending toward a 21-23 points a game point there is definitely hope.

I have hope that everyone sees where the problems are on the OL…..LG and C. But we also need a play caller committed to running and plays that fit our QB and WRs.
I have hope that everyone sees the problem on defense is LB and DL power guys who stop the run.
We can improve at S, even CB, but everyone can see we cannot stop a physical team committed to running.

I hope Dak and Zeke don’t say they are in the best shape of their life next season. Didn’t work out too well this year.

There is hope, how many thought they'd have a 12-5 season? And they play in the East.

Yup. I keep seeing Kellen Moore call these runs up the gut that go nowhere and think "why does he think that's going to work?" but then I've realized he thinks its going to work because other teams regularly do it against OUR defense!
Well the messed up part is that Moore gets criticized for running up the gut -- because who thought that was going to work -- and then gets criticized for figuring out other ways to move the ball -- because you have to stay committed to the run.

People, including Jerry Jones apparently, like to blame scheme but you can't scheme your way to victory with inferior players especially on the OL and DL.

OP is 100% correct, but there's no way to have a culture change with Jones running the show.

He poisoned a team with 5 HOFers on it in the 90s. There's no roster McClay can put together that can overcome him. If they hit on a Micah Parsons-caliber player in the draft on an annual basis, it still wouldn't be enough.

When will we be able to genuinely compete again? It won't start until our draft war room doesn't look like a Jones family reunion.

I just have no idea where this team goes from here and the thought of starting this whole process over just makes me sick to my stomach.

They can’t just say this is good enough and if we clean up mistakes all will be well.

Lining up and doing the same thing over and over is just not the way and I think they have to fire McCarthy.

He’s been here 2 seasons and he was awful in year 1 and year 2 he beat a bunch of bad teams and nobody had an answer for the 2 high safeties. Also the lack of Pollard and playing Zeke was just criminal.

Dallas needs a culture change and they need a new face for this franchise right now but I know management believes in continuity and they get continuous results.

I just don’t know what they can do outside of a coaching change to give any hope to the fans.
It will get worse. Dak's cap hit get worse from now on. It will be harder to get good players.

I figured that out a long time ago.
We lost 3 playoff games to end the 90s. Ugh!! Remember that 2007 season? Yeah, no way we should have lost to the giants. How about 2011, 2012 or 2013? Good times there huh? We lost to each of our rivals in 3 years in a win and your in game.....and we blew it every time.
Statistically it's harder to lose that many times.

Yep.

I feel like this is going to be a similar situation to Garrett, granted not as long as a decade. McCarthy should be fired. But he won't be because firing a HC after two seasons means Jerry has to admit failure. He'll never do that. He'll keep McCarthy for 4-5 years most likely.

And yesterday was the first moment when I realized that we may have a QB problem. Not that I think Dak sucks. Not that I think he's terrible. He's a good QB. But he's not a great QB. He's come up small in big games this year. And we are paying him to be a great QB. Getting just average to solid QB play, especially in big games, while taking the cap hits we are taking hinders the team.

I guess there is a way to maybe "help" Dak (retool the OL, admit the Elliott screw up, etc.) but I am not sure Jerry is capable of being able to do that.

It's just a depressing feeling today.

It could be the mixture of all the leaders on this team, seriously, Dak included..Amari, tank, tyrone, Zeke, KM..they all have one thing in common..they grew up under JG...again they may all be great but not together with the disease of JG still on them. I'm in agreement on one thing this "We will add some pieces " thing has not worked in 20 years, if the leadership group does not work you need to change it just like any other company would have to. I think the could all go other places and find success but together here they do not work..just like the last leadership group.

I just don’t get how yesterday is the first time you saw this with Dak. He’s always been this way.

He’s stats Prescott. He’s great against bad teams and goes into hiding in big games.

What scares me now after waking up to him a little more is that people keep saying “well if we add some Oline” etc. Having a guy that needs top Oline, RBs, WRs etc all around is a resource drain because it has to be perfect. We had no injuries this year in the playoffs except Gallup. We need to have leadership that isn’t soft
