Tough draw. Lol. We were not good over the 2nd half of the season.

Agree it is closer to a tune up than overhaul, but we need to revamp the offense to play to Dak’s strengths. Would go to a quick passing game and make sure we have a quick a slot rcvr like Beasley that can get separation in the middle of the field quickly. That and maybe another TE. He needs to see guys open in front of him or he gets indecisive. Dak needs security blankets and simple passes…

Moore needs to go.
we need to revamp the OL and the running game for us to have any level of consistncy and success.

I have been saying for 6 weeks now that we are a soft team. we are a finesse team. we don't punch back when we get punched.

Time for major changes in philosophy and identity. This team can't be pass dominant. They don't have the QB. Put all resources into the trenches and be the team that no one can stop running the ball. Use play action off that propensity to run.
Sounds like 2016. One defensive stop on a crazy play and a team like that can beat ARod.

It's incredible with all the rules to try to change this one fundamental truth, it still remains a fact. Football is won in the trenches. I was a small, slow running back when I played. But I love offensive line play. Watch the trenches the first few drives and you can predict the outcome relatively frequently.
Yep and our Oline got destroyed on our first drive yesterday. Unfortunately it happened repeatedly throughout the game.

My early 2022 prediction is 8-9 unless they dramatically improve at Center and Left Tackle. How may times does a Center have to forget the snap count before you move on? T. Smith is done.

I agree it’s not a complete overhaul but the team does have some decisions to make on several players. Not to mention some maneuvering to get under the cap. When all is said and done this team could look a lot different next year.

I really really do hope that if we fix the oline and return it to greatness then dak can somehow become this amazing qb that some people think he is.
Sadly some of daks problems look to be more internal than o line.
I’m a Dak supporter but recognize his play was unsteady at times this season. Why? I don’t know. I do know the Oline was a big disappointment. Also, when defenses really played tough man defense our receivers often had trouble getting any separation. Dak had his issues as well. He seemed too hesitant and unsure at times. He played too cautiously and I don’t think you can do that in today’s game. Was his calf injury part if the problem? Maybe but I think it was more mental. He was trying to avoid mistakes and be too perfect. It didn’t work. He can play great as we’ve all seen. He needs to stop thinking too much and just play.

agreed. he isnt good enough to overcome anything less perfect conditions. if we give him 10 seconds to throw the ball in a clean pocket we might be able to win a playoff game.

Any of 500 QBs.

Dak can't beat teams that have solid QBs.

In order for us to win a SB, Dak has to beat 3 good QBs in a row.. Good luck with that! Lol

Just like 2016, this season was a mirage caused by weak competition and great players around him.
And just like 2016 Dak choked early against good teams and in the playoffs, and it is a mirage that he played great to bring them back.
THE COWBOYS WERE DOWN 23-7! DAK OVERTHREW HIS WIDE RECEIVERS EARLY AND BEHIND THEM!
And just like the years in between, he struggles when the team doesn't carry him.
He's Jason Garrett 2.0. He looks for anyone else who can be blamed, and it's never his fault.
Ol' 8-8, and Young 8-8.
Give Dak to our toughest opponent and hire Garrett to go with him.
Excuses won't build greatness.

Weak competition in 2016? We beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh. They went 11-5 and won their division in 2016. We beat GB in GB and they went 10-6 and won their division.
Giants were 11-5 and WFT was 9-7 that year. Tampa and Lions were 9-7, the Ravens and Minny were 8-8. We didn't play bunch of weak teams in 2016.
We beat all those teams except the Giants who we lost only by 1 point and 3 points. You are clueless.

Wow. I get this forum can be hyperbolic but my goodness.

Dak isn't leaving. Complaining about it is just dumb. The contract is signed. BUILD A BRIDGE, GET OVER IT.

He was playing at an MVP level. Tied for fourth in the league with 37 touchdown passes to only ten ints with a 104 rating!!! He is what you want in a QB. We have to do better around him.

With that said, this isn't an overhaul, it's a tune-up. And that is going to happen because like all GOOD TEAMS we are going to lose our coordinators and hopefully bring in the right staff to take the leap.

I don't want Dan Quinn to go. KM I'm wavering on but more on Nussmier and Philben.

We went 12-5 and had a tough draw in the first round. Played like crap and had dumb mistakes. We lost. IT HAPPENS. GET BETTER.
If MM goes, it's probably a good idea to elevate Quinn. As the guys in the booth said, they think he's learned a lot since Atlanta and certainly his defense got much better over previous years' efforts.

We are going to lose a lot of players because of several bad contracts sucking up salary cap dollars

Yet here we are 5 years later, and no closer to being champions than before.

And it doesn't change the fact you were wrong about the 2016 season.
No, I wasn't.
The Cowboys were stacked and Dak never had to pass under pressure. The team carried him.
I'd love to see Dak play for a team that didn't have the talent Dallas has. He'd be drummed out of the NFL.
If Dak had started with any other team he'd be out of the NFL by now.

Agree it's definitely not a total overhaul. Regardless if you like Dak or not he's our QB. I know everyone wants a guy that can be a top 3 elite QB, but they are very hard to come by and still believe Dak is good enough to take the team further. There's been many less talented QBs that have.

Poor pass protection and lack of a run game threw Dak off his earlier record setting pace and wonder what's next? Will we be able to address those challenges with coaching changes and addition of players? One dimensional teams struggle to win consistently and need to be able to find more balance to help this offense.
