The 49ers are built to succeed even with sub par QB play. How?

1. They are committed to running the ball well. WR's have to block if they want to be apart of the offense, same goes for tight ends.
2. This philosophy of having your WR's / TE's set the edge well means any running back off the street can succeed. We dont need to pay a RB 16 mil a season. We block well and any RB with talent will find success. Better yet, imagine what Pollard would do if he played for the 49ers?
3. Defensive line - They are stacked up front and dont need to blitz to get pressure to the QB.

Our offseason plans need to be focused on running the ball well so that our 40 mil QB can find success. We need to be investing in the O-line either via FA or draft, cut Cooper to resign some of the defense back, and get rid of Zeke. I dont care what the cap hit is at this point. The fact he played with torn PCL doesnt show toughness to me but selfishness in fear of losing his job to Pollard.
I agree.

This sling it all over the field offense is not what wins in this league. Never has, never will.

What worked for us in the 90s, 2014 and 2016 is run, run run and that opens the pass. It makes everyone better. The game is shortened for the defense, the qb is at less risk and has easier reads.

Why we ever got to this point is just baffling.

Jimmy Garoppolo doesn't have the massive contract that Dak has so it doesn't hurt their cap as much. The 49ers also have a better GM

This is a very good post

I laugh every time we run a WR screen...our WRs CANNOT and have ZERO interest in blocking

Also, Daks contract is sunk cost right now...so we better put the team around him that will help us succeed with that contract

And people salivating over Schultz must completely ignore that he cannot block a traffic cone...he is glitz and glamour (but that is what Jerry likes). But for a team that NEEDS to run the ball to be successful...Schultz DOES NOT WORK!!!!

And you are right...get you 3 good inexpensive RBs. Trying to replicate the 90s and a bell cow RB like Emmit Smith...we have JG to thank for that!!!!!! Which is why I disagree with people clamoring for Pollard to get 20 touches. He is not built for that. And we should STOP trying to look for someone who is!!!!!!!!

And the interior of our DL still needs a stud

Like I said, your post is ON POINT!!!!

Exactly. Exactly. Exactly.

But it's a passing league and Jerry thought he found his gem in the 4th round.

Big offense, sell jerseys.

Just a clueless front office.

Garrett was garbage. Please get out of here with that nonsense. Garrett is literally EVERYTHING that is wrong with this team. A guy who NEVER earned his stripes and got the biggest position in sports because of his connections. Sounds a bit like the VP of the team. You know. The owners son.

How's that Dak thing going for you...?

Here's the other thing. That would require a SHIFT in how we think at the top.

Jerry needs to sell "glitz and glamour" Which is why he is always looking for the next #88 or #22 or #94 or #21.....he can sell that. Well....in his mind....he feels like he can sell that. And what is his real motivation to change. The value of the franchise keeps going up...without him having to WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

49ers started 2-5 & got lucky at the right time. They stunk it up last year. They're nobody special. You'll witness that this weekend against Rodgers.

If Bosa and the rest of the D-line is healthy enough to play, Rodgers and his makeshift O-line will have a tough time. Its a bad match up for GB as well imo.

LOL. A guy that is still playing vs a coach that was fired this season in his 2nd year. Sure bring up Dak.

Credibility, it's important. :muttley:

If we're keeping Dak he needs to have an offense like what they've given Garrapolo and like what was given to Dak early on,,,

Kyle Shanahan is the best run game schemer in the business, probably cause his dad was too. That really isn't copy-able.

Schultz is glitz and glamour? Wow. Who knew

I would categorize Schultz as an overachiever, but what do I know.
