Not sure why you're bringing up hanging 40 on every team. They scored 17 points in this game, not 25. Which has been pretty typical of how they performed against the teams that are still playing.

But let's go back to your initial statement. You said the solution for Dak to beat dropping 7 in coverage is for him to run the ball. That's ridiculous. The solution is for him to recognize the coverage, use his progressions, and make a decision. How you've brought that to, "remake the whole damn roster," just shows you're not reading what I'm saying, just making assumptions.

McCarthy changed that, fwiw.

If you don't think Dak is an issue, why do teams say they want to make Dak beat them? I know you can't be happy with the run game this year, especially lately. Why would SF's HC say he liked the matchup of his banged up secondary vs Dak better than if DAL's run game got going?

Will we hear any other teams (other than SFs opponent) make a similar claim in the playoffs?

"Got to stop the run and make Rodgers/Brady/Allen/Mahomes/Stafford(maybe?) beat us." You just don't hear that about the good QBs.

First of all don't be stupid.. you hear that about EVERY QB .. Every team that has ever lined up to play has wanted to try and make the opponent one dimensional. Making it about Dak vs other QBs is just being a softhead.. You think teams are lining up in 2-3 down linemen and dropping 8-9 against these other QBs you listed because THEY are the ones to fear? No.. teams try to stop the run and pressure with 4 against ALL good QBs.. And when it works it shut ALL of them down.. That's why not a one of them has ever gone undefeated. Ever.. And do you know WHY every defense that has ever lined up on Sunday tries to stop the run and make the other offense one dimensional? Because it works.. If you can get pressure without blitzing and you can still stop the run you're WAY ahead of the game. The way for a QB like Dak to get them out of that mode is to hurt them with his legs.. Pressure up the middle is the bane of every QB's existence and our weakness at LG and C meant Dak was getting a LOT of it.. There was a supreme disconnect between the plays that were called and the protection our line was able to provide. The entire passing game against SF should have been a steady diet of slants and shallow crossers with Dak rolling out. We didn't block well enough to have him taking those deep drops.. You think the losses are all on Dak.. fine.. nothing I'm going to say is going to change your mind.. After all.. if Dak had played better the 49ers would never have been able to run for 170 yards.. because.... well I don't know why.. You tell me..

After the pain of this latest nut kick has calmed down enough.. we must endeavor to figure out to avoid a repeat next season. Here's mine..

#1 ) Fire Philbin - The o-line struggles are on him.. These guys are too good to be getting whipped with this much regularity. he gotta go...

#2) and maybe 1a) replace Williams.. too many holding calls and too many times pushed back into the QB or the running back.. He gotta go.

#3) Pray somebody hires Kellen Moore away.. When teams are all saying the same thing about how to stop your offense (and it keeps working) then it's time for a new offense. The Cowboys have never been good when they could not run the ball consistently.. and Moore does not want to run the ball at all. He gotta go.

#4) Draft another Micah Parsons.. no not necessarily another super freak linebacker.. just another hungry play maker on defense. Failing that, get us a dawg for the offensive line to replace either Williams or Biadasz.. better if we could replace both.. maybe one draft pick, maybe one FA vet.

#5) Get healthy.. Captain Obvious right.. The big three of Dak, Zeke and Tyron being dinged up frankly derailed this season as much as anything.. Neither of these guys was the same player after their injury and the cumulative effect on the offense when THEY dropped off was monumental.

#6) Put all the DTs on whatever program Neville Gallimore was on.. Dude clearly put on 25-30 pounds of muscle this offseason and came back a completely different body type. He now has 1-tech size and 3-tech agility.

#7) Pay whatever it takes to keep Dan Quinn.. that turnaround on defense was amazing. Even in this playoff game after getting run over early the adjustments to slow the 49ers down were impressive.

I'm sure there are other areas folks would like to give attention.. but these were the first ones that leapt to mind for me. By all means.. please share yours..
#8-Fix kicking game. Way too inconsistent and costed us at least two games. Maybe Greg the Leg was still recovering as his ST coach said. But I’d bring in someone else to at least make him earn it.

Good one.. I almost included that.. but felt like I'd said enough.. His misses against Tampa and Vegas were huge.. come to think of it didn't also have a missed FG AND a missed PAT against AZ? Yeah that's gotta get fixed too.

As disappointing as this season ended it may lead to a hangover going into next year. I’m not so sure we’re going to bounce back from this. We couldn’t even get motivated for a home playoff game. The fans showed up but the team didn’t.

Yeah we need a few more crazy people on this squad.. These guys are too cool and calm... Wonder if Charles Haley can give us a few snaps..

We need players that play with more fire and passion. I can’t believe how flat we looked for a playoff game. We don’t have players that are committed to being the best they can be. Several key players didn’t show up on Sunday. Even the most optimistic fans are going to have a tough time believing in the team heading into next season.

The issue I have is still the coaching. This is set up exactly how JJ wants it. McCarthy next year and if he fails he’s going right to Moore.

JJ is convinced Moore is the next Sean Peyton. Or sean Mcvay.Once he puts it on his head it’s over. He tries to be smarter than everyone

If that’s the case then this franchise isn’t doing anything for at least another 2-3 years

Same old tired deflections. Dak holds the ball too long and it's because of the routes. It's not that he's missing the windows. Nope. Can't be.

Regarding, "losses are all on Dak," yet another tired and played out strawman to avoid actual criticisms.

You take a handful of plays as a way to dismiss all the other times things went right and he still missed the open guy. Yeah, pressure up the middle affects QBs. No chit. You think they were in his face all game? Mahomes was sacked and hit as many times as Dak and still threw 400+ yards, 5 TDs, and only 9 incompletions.

And again- your "solution" undermines your QB. "He needs to run more," has never been a criticism of a Super Bowl winning QB.

Now you're throwing Moore under the bus. The guy who's getting tons of interviews from the same people who knew going in SF would beat DAL- but no, he's an idiot and doesn't understand how to get the best from his players.

I have to wonder how much of the offensive struggles don't come back to guys not believing in what Moore is calling.. I know if I was Zeke or Pollard I would let out a long sigh every time he sent in the handoff up the middle play.. It hasn't really worked in 3 months but continues to be a staple of our offense. Even on that 3rd and short that Zeke converted that was all HIS effort because the line blocked absolutely nobody.. Same with the receivers when he calls the "everybody run to the sticks and curl" play on 3rd and long. Every defense in the league has seen that a thousand times and are always ready for it. Same with the offensive line.. Do they believe in the blocking schemes? Hell in some cases I am left wondering if they even know them.. because how many times we see guys get into our backfield completely unblocked.. even on short yardage plays when we KNOW the name of the game is get a hat on a hat and drive!??!

Williams holds because he gets beat. He will continue to get beat wherever he goes.

Accountibility? Dont forget they benched him for 4 or 5 games because of the holding.

im not saying he’ll be great but watch him on another team next year. I bet he’ll be pretty good

we have a bad OL coach but he is a friend of the HC so he will stay

we have a not good OC but he is the next HC so he will stay

the HC is neutered so no accountability and no discipline

we have a QB that needs to be sat down and shown the basics of reading defences but he won’t because he makes 42 million and is a company man

these are the problems with this team but they will not be addressed

First of all my criticism of Moore is nothing new.. I started threads earlier this season and even dating back to last year about his horrid play calling especially in the run game as well as his very passive scripted game starting plays. We simply do not attack early in games and the net result is the all too often slow starts.. As for his interviews.. my only response to that is please Lord let him be hired..

That horrible playcalling resulted in the #1 offense in the league. Seems like you have some serious cognitive dissonance about Moore.

Get rid of the left guard. And get a defensive tackle. Stop the penalties, stop the run. It’s so simple.

I'm considering going O-Line in the first two rounds. The defense was good enough this year to get it done unless we want to change our identity.
But there will be guys leaving that made this defense what it is/was. Hopefully we can find better replacements.

Call it what you will.. Given the number of times the great plays are the result of players doing superhuman stuff I'm going to stick with my assessment.. Also just because you're #1 in the league doesn't mean there is not room to improve.. Yes they were #1 in the league but that ranking, especially scoring was helped tremendously by the defense handing them 40 turnovers.. 5 or 6 of which the defense actually scored with if I recall correctly. I am inclined to attribute much of what is accomplished on offense to great players doing great things.. It's not like our offense is scheming guys wide open all the time like we see with other teams.. Our great plays tend to come from Dak making an amazing throw (often after having to escape pressure) and receivers making wonderful catches against tight coverage.. And of course our big runs are almost always a result of our guys breaking tackles.. When was the last time we saw an amazing trap or combo block leading to our backs getting to the second or third level untouched?

Yes Williams will be gone, and the sad thing is his penalty issues will be corrected once he signs on with another team just you wait and see.... I firmly believe that since we don't practice accountability around these parts he is a product of the system..
did you miss the part where he got benched because of his poor play? The only reason he was playing was because McGovern sucked worse.

Ronnie I would say do whatever it takes to restore our running game.
I think that requires a commitment to it and probably new personnel in the line and in the backfield.
KM isn’t the guy to champion that cause.
Can you imagine going to Green Bay or any playoff cold weather stadium this time of year carrying our current run game to town.

Williams will be gone. His contract is up and he likely cashes in (using his Dallas rep) somewhere like New York.

I think we need a monster DT like Jordan Davis. We need somebody nasty up the middle. I like Osa, I like Gallimore etc. But they just aren't that nasty behemoth in the middle.
I like Davis but if Lienbaum OC from Iowa is there, I would take him. Maybe we could get Ridgeway DT from Arkansas later in the draft then. Never seen him play but like what I have read.
