It really comes down to one person. Jimmy Johnson. For all the love they shared back then, after those Championships, I would bet that Jerry started to hate Jimmy. All the of the spotlight was on Jimmy. Jerry couldn't stand that. Jerry needs attention; he craves it. So Jerry is going to die proving that those Championships were a result of Jerry more than Jimmy. I believe it's really that simple. It's his ego.
Every year that passes proves that those Championships were the result of Jimmy. That has to be the
. There is a mass psychosis that has happened to the Cowboys fanbase over the past quarter century. The late 80's I understand, those were Tom Landry's last days. The Bears, SF, & NFC east were just better. Pelluer, Hogeboom, White, aging team. They needed a hard reset and Jimmy is the one to come in a flip over the table and start from scratch.

Jerry has done a great job of capturing a good part of the fanbase under his Stockholm syndrome. How can anyone call us Americas team? What have we done over the past quarter century to justify that? Romo, Dak, Ware, memorable playoff collapses? We have not even made a championship game since January 1996, when the world was till pushing AOL, Windows 1995 commercials with the rolling stones, OS2 Warp IBM ads.

This is a disgrace of an organization, the only thing different from the Lions or the WFT is really the logo and history. This is a failed organization, most of you will disagree with me. Jerry does not care bout winning another Super Bowl. He has three SB's, he is a HOF'r, he has nothing to prove. He doesn't care about paying, Dak, Zeke, Romo, Cooper, Ware, Tank, Witten, you name the player. There is so much cashflow with the Cowboys he has to spend it. It's like you and I going to get milk at the grocery store. Winning the SB or even building a real contender is like priority 10 when he comes to the office. He just wants to be relevant. Once fans realize this and stop supporting this nonsense is the only way this ends. We need the fanbase to stop showing up at games. It won't hurt his pocket at all, but it will cause embarrassment.

There is almost nothing the fans can do that will make Jerry lose money, maybe not show up for a whole season, but the game theory behind that will never work. He has a flywheel effect for the Cowboys. Fans are desperate for a winner, they keep thinking we are one player, one good draft, one referee missed call away.

Jerry learned from Campo, that he cannot go 5-11, 4-12 type seasons. He always wants to be in the 7-10 win category, which is why he never fired JG. Because 8-8 is good enough to excite ESPN, FS1, play for a playoff spot on Sunday Night.

When will you people wake up? It's not changing until Jerry capitulates and hires a real coach who will come in a change the culture. If that happens within 2-3 years we are in a championship game. The talent is good enough in this organization.

Just imagine if we had McVay or Kyle Shanahan, do we beat the 49ers? It's a simple question that Jerry should be asking. To me it's as plain as the nose on my face.
Don't fool yourself as you are the easiest to fool.

Exactly. When Jerry bought the Cowboys he made a statement that nobody knew him as a rich oil man, but as the cowboys owner people knew him. The Cowboys are a stage for Jerry. Winning is secondary. Jerry wants to win, but if winning took him out of the spotlight he wouldn't do it.

LMAO not even reading past gm and 25years same busted azz narrative. Jerrys not the gm Mcclay is and jerry given up so much power where the things Mcclay doesn't do , other do, and hes s simply a figure head the last 5-10 years fans wont let it go and admit its just happenstance. jerry just lies to be seen and heard but really isn't make the decisions anymore for 90% of what goes on at the ranch,

Jerry, the FO, Mcclay cant make an OL block better and keep them from making bad plays as they couldnt when crayton had bad game or when murray fumbled baily missed 2 fgs, and the dez no catch rulings etc no more then romo fumbling a FG hold etc etc these teams were chock ful of talent and players didnt execute and worse not only didn't they do their job they also then added insult to injury by having record amount of penalties.

the FO can control that..its not one player its the entire groups and its all over the team. its up to the players themselves to dig down deeper and simply stop finding ways to destroy games.

Jerrys made many mistakes post jimmy but these big games let downs on teams full of talent is not on him.
If you think that Jerry Jones has "given up power" to McClay then you must be living in an alternate universe.

Jerry Jones has never stopped insisting that he has final say in all decisions Cowboys. The only part of the GM job that Jones has bequeathed to McClay is the actual work. McClay is not the GM. He does not have the authority of a GM. When people insist that McClay is the GM it means he has GM responsibilities. However, in no way does he have the authority to make decisions without Jerry Jones's approval.

I can't stress how ridiculous this mindset is if you have been watching the man for 33 years. The entire point of Jerry being the GM is that he wants credit for any success this team might have. He craves it, it has consumed him to the point that Head Coaches don't even get the level of authority typically found in the NFL.

Sure, there have been times when Jerry was grudgingly persuaded not to go down a certain road but that was still ultimately his decision. He has sworn never to give another coach the level of authority Jimmy had, so why would he bend to the will of a non-titled GM ? Not going to happen.

Ultimately Jerry made the coaching decisions and he made the personnel decisions. He made the contract decisions. He listened to a great deal of advice from staff member, yes, but he made those decisions and so he is responsible for the results just like any other GM.

Everything that the Cowboys have been over the past 25 years falls directly on his lap and just because he's the owner and won't fire himself from the GM job doesn't make this fact any less crystal clear.

he has give n most of it up so no he doesn't make all those decisions by himself allowed that to be done by delegation and democracy type final decsions.

sorry
its been known for while his power is about the same as the king, queen,& princess in Europe,. they are now figure heads, public speakers and sure jerry will get his opinions and if he chose, he could countermand things but he hasnt in but hes not making the decisions you think he is.

im not reading past your first lines as its all-hollow hyperbole diatribes.

Oh...he cares about winning...he just cares about winning HIS way. At his age...there is NOTHNG in it for him to change. He would not be satisfied winning it someone else's way. He's already done that. And he did not have any fun. Just listen to him...when Bill Parcells was here...he belly ached about not having any fun. If you listen...he will tell you EXACTLY how he thinks. He said 500 coaches could coach the Dallas Cowboys. He BELIEVES that. Why? Because he truly thinks he is EXCELLENT at what he does..and so all a coach has to do is roll the ball on the field!!

This man has a special kind of sickness. Many of us know it. So what does that say about us?

And if you all think his son will be any different...you have not been paying attention.
I agree. I don't understand this narrative floating around that he doesn't care about winning another Super Bowl. Of course he wants to win another Super Bowl. It's just that he has no idea how. He thinks he does from the early 90s, but clearly he backed into his first 3 with his then buddy Jimmy. Since then, he has proven he has no idea how.
