I am as pissed off as everyone else, but I want to remind you of the 1996 Denver Broncos. Do you remember that team? They had a great year, looked strong, then got their arses beat in the first round by an expansion team. John Elway was labeled a Playoffs choker, although to be fair, he had at least made it to the Super Bowl before. But that team took it to heart, played lights out the next year and went on to win two Super Bowls. Dak Prescott is definitely no John Elway, but there has been too much invested into this team, I think changes should be minimal and they try this one more time. If they can have another solid draft, try to return as many impactful players as possible, tweak the defense even better, and if they can fix the running game, because the Broncos could definitely run it down your throat. Remember that Elway was in his last years, and all his career, no matter how talented he was, he could never win the big one without a great running game. And our Boys looked like a powerhouse when they were breaking 200 yards every game on the ground. If it doesn’t work next year, then it’s time to make some business decisions and start cleaning house, including the coach, receivers, quarterback and more. But again, I say give this team one more chance to show that they have heart and are tough.
Jerry loves his homers. Seriously though, what's he do? You guys go to Vegas or something? He take you to all the shows? I don't get all the blind love. I am not going anywhere either but you ever see the move, "Major League?" Remember the first part when groundskeepers are at home plate? Remember what they said about their beloved Cleveland baseball team? Yeah, I pretty much say that every year. It doesn't matter who's playing. It's still the same out come. I don't see how all you DFW boys just take this every year. Even the media there seems to be lobbing Jerry softballs every year. I don't get it.

Ha! What a great movie. I still love watching Major League.

We’re the freaking Cleveland Indians fans of the 80’s! LOL

I miss the days when tickets to sh!!!y teams were cheap, stadiums could empty and trash bags would be on head.

Since Dallas only had a two year window, I'd have to agree with you.

Here's the thing about the Broncos and Elway. Long before that 1996 season people were saying Elway couldn't win the big one. It's always the most ignorant among us that shout the loudest. Truth is, that 1997 team was the first time the Broncos had a team that could compete in the SB. The Broncos never had a chance against the Giants, Red-Skins, or 49ers. It didn't matter who was quarterback. The game was over before they took the field. But John Elway can't win.

That 1996 Broncos team was one of their best. They got out to an early lead on a team they didn't take seriously and seemed like they stopped playing. One of the biggest playoff disappointments ever. They never saw that coming. With these Cowboys, you saw the signs all year. This loss didn't come as a shock. But I do agree that this team needs another shot. We all know Dak's contract will be restructured for 2022, then after that? We're in trouble. But this team needs a run game more than Elway did. The Cowboys are not the greatest show on turf, and they need to stop trying to play like them.

Good post.

I remember that team very well. Every damn 10 seconds, there was another story about how they learned from their playoff embarrassment.

Who knows if the Cowboys will turn it around? Could be a lost cause, but I think it’s fair to give them another shot with most of the key players back if possible.

not like we have any choice any way

but all i will say is that this kind of thing is how jason garrett can get 3-4 more season then he should.

it is very easy to talk urself into another year for almost any body and then 1 year can become 2 or 3 or what ever

So you want to delay the rebuild that we know needs to happen? You want to roll the same garbage coaches out there, and the same subpar, undisciplined team that we've seen? Minus a few starters, plus a few scrubs, and with a tougher schedule? Really? What could possibly be gained from waiting one more year just to let Fat Mike finish his contract when we know he's going to be gone at season's end? We aren't getting close to a Super Bowl next season unless we pull off some kind of miracle trade/s. If we have to rebuild, start right now by getting a real coach. That alone won't be enough, but I for one don't feel like waiting around another year just because we want to, what...do right by Mike McCarthy??

This football team is a shell of Cowboys teams of the past. They don’t know how to win important games. The FO can’t get out of its own way and the culture was cast in stone many years ago.

Dude - It’s not changing. I hate to rain on your parade and I love your posts during the season but we have to be brutally honest here. They are playing a first place schedule next year and many are leaving and will replaced by players other teams don’t want.
The schedule is brutal. I will root for my Cowboys, but man, it will be painful.

I don't have a choice. I am emotionally attached to this team. I could give you an autobiography and from the age of 13 it wouldn't be referenced by time. It would be referenced by whatever game the Cowboys had played at that particular point.

Also, I made a promise, an obligation if you will. I may have been young at the time but I knew many fans of other teams, some teams that didn't go to the playoffs but once in a blue moon. I was impressed that they stuck with their teams even during years of losing records. I never knew what that was like at the time. From 1970 to 1985, the Cowboys never had a losing season. I was shocked in 1974 and again in 1984 when the Cowboys missed the playoffs.

I was spoiled and I knew it. Therefore, I made a vow that I would stick with the Cowboys even during times of losing seasons. I owed them that. I mean, the first 13 years I was a fan the Cowboys played in 10 NFC championship games, winning 5 of them. They won two Super Bowls,

LOL, I figured that, after those 13 years I could handle 13 years of losing. I figured that was fair.

When Jerry bought the Cowboys and brought in Jimmy Johnson to coach I believed they could win but it would take time and it could never be on the same scale as the Landry years. At first I was very upset that they traded Walker to the Vikings, seemingly just handing them the next two or three Super Bowls but then I began to realize what Jimmy was doing. I knew he was building a competitive team but i never imagined their dominance over a 5 year period.

I thought it would last another ten years and it should have, It would have if it wasn't for the fact that they screwed everything up for reasons that were nothing short of childish. I later realized that Jimmy Johnson was not Tom Landry. He was not the type to stay and build a legacy for himself and the Cowboys.

I almost convinced myself that I could walk away, After all, it was Jerry who failed to live up to his obligation to put winning first no matter how it was perceived but I have to admit. when I saw the star, I had to sit and watch, I just couldn't walk away.

The Cowboys will always get another chance but let me make this clear,. Jerry Jones is not the Dallas Cowboys, he is only the owner and if he was a good one, nobody but Cowboy fans would know who he was, nobody would recognize his face.

After 27 years of ineptitude, Jerry Jones the GM does not deserve another chance. The fact that he is the GM is an abomination, an insult to all other NFL GM's and a constant middle finger to long time diehard Cowboy fans. He is a source of shame and embarrassment when it comes to the once great legacy of the Dallas Cowboys

This team has a different culture. If they get hit in the nose, they run away crying. I want a team that will fight back when they are hit. This team doesn’t have that mentality.
Yup. The current team psyche is one of unrealistic entitlement.

How did Den do it? With a damn running game.

This draft, the first two picks must be OL.

Judging by history, this team won't even make the playoffs next year. They were actually very lucky to have good health down the stretch and it still didn't matter. The bill will become due next season so I'm expecting the injury bug to hit hard
Very true about health. Compared with other teams we didn't have many key injuries, chances are will change next season along with having a weaker roster due to the cap.

For some reason, this came to mind.....

P.S. We do not have an Elway under center never did and never will.....

The biggest thing, to me, if they keep the team mostly intact (they will) is figuring out how to get the running game going. That helps Dak and it helps the defense. I won't pretend I know how to fix the running game, I have opinions, but I see too many plays where there is just nowhere to go.

I'm old fashioned so I'd use more two-back formations and less shotgun, but the roster isn't currently constructed to do that. I'm also not sure Moore even wants to any part of that in his offense, which is why I'm somewhat down on him at this point.

I'd hate to beat a dead horse..

But part of the reason we run shotgun so much is because Dak sucks at dropping back. When we do get into those "classic" formations, its an easy tip off for defenses that it will be a running play. This isn't my "eye test", I Saw one of those guys that review NFL film for a living and he said it was part of the reason our running game sucks.

Dak has always been a spread QB. Those old school formations arent "Dak friendly".

I will always be a Cowboys fan and will always root for them until I can’t root any longer. I will admit however, I am more disappointed nowadays when my fantasy football team loses, than when the Cowboys do. Jerry did that to me.

I hear you problem was 1996 was 25 years ago
That was Troy Michael and Emmett's era when players actually cared about winning .

Now it's a group motivated by money hungry agents that convince them not to play hard after they've been paid and extend their careers by making business decisions.

Basically they got people in their heads telling them that championships mean
nothing and that they must maximize their careers in the short window they have to play football
