Firing him this early in the process sounds more like premature expulsion rather than a delayed explosion.
When doing this correctly there should be some rhythm to this method……
I say delayed explosion because it would potentially happen after other teams try to take Quinn away.

My question would be since Coach salaries dont count against the cap why not pay Quinn what he wants to remain in his current role, he has expressed that he is comfortable in Dallas.

It makes sense to me; however,...

Jerry has expressed in the past that he didn't want coaches that were just there for the money.

When Wade Phillips was Head Coach, Wade wanted to hire Dan Reeves as a consultant on Offense.
- Jerry was concerned that Reeves only wanted to pocket some cash and insisted the Reeves make specific time commitments in the contract.
i.e. Basically punch a time card.
- Reeves declined.

If this was on Jerry’s radar he would have done it. Why allow Quinn to do all the interviews only to then make him an offer. Unless he wants to match any offer.
Then is that not fair to MM. what if he was available and other teams wanted to interview him.

As the longer he waits, the less chances MM would have.

Jerry would never get a serious quality coach that would consider coming here. If he pulled that. Yeah, yeah, I know some already think that is the case. But that is not true.

MM will be the HC for at least the 2022 season.

Then again we are talking senile Jerry, Drunk Jerry, or semi-sane Jerry.

While I'm not for or against firing MM, I really don't care about "fair to MM" when he stupidly admitted publicly about lying to Jerry in his interview for the job. Yes, embarrass your narcissist boss. Brilliant.

Jerry’s favorite coach is the one under contract. He doesn’t value coaching. If he’s proven 1 thing as owner of the Cowboys it’s that he doesn’t value the coaching position at all.
And he despises eating the contracts thereof....

He usually forced new coaches to retain the assistants from the previous staff that were signed.

And we think he is going to eat over 10 million on McCarthy?

Hahaha. No.

I think Jerry would in this case....

But if Quinn wants to be a HC, and/or if he thinks his stock may not get higher in this dysfunctional environment.....he leaves.

Personally I'd collect Jerry checks for another couple of years before jumping into my second and final HC opportunity prematurely.

No QB, he is gone in three years....and teams that have vacancies don't exactly have studs at the position. Not this year anyway.

Is Jerry waiting on Dan Quinn before making a final decision on Mike McCarthy? Would Jerry fire McCarthy to keep Quinn from going to another team? These are the questions being asked this morning on the various football talk shows. Discuss.
Absolutely these are the critical questions.
I don't think we will know until it all plays out.
The one scenerio I don't want to see is Moore being named our head coach.
That's Garrett 2.0 waiting to happen.

If Jerry is waiting to hire a better coach because he’d rather retain Quinn, that’s just further evidence nothing will ever change.

He would probably have to offer Quinn the Head Coaching job to retain him.

I'm not certain that Quinn would accept.
- He can take another HC job without having to replace the HC that hired him (McCarthy).

It appears that NFL Head Coaching salaries range from:
3M: Mike Vrabel
6M: McCarthy
12.5M: Belichick

Quinn was making 8M as HC in Atlanta.

I don’t think he would do that either meaning take the job. Moore would in a second however IMO

It’s that Jerry doesn’t like to pay coaches who are no longer with the team. He won’t fire McCarthy and have to pay him the next 3 years for nothing (or however long is left on his contract).

No. It's not about him wasting money. It goes back to letting Switzer go "too soon." He believes he made a mistake and has gone so far the other way he would now rather let it play out in hopes of improving.

I had believed MM bought another year after going 12-5, but I'm not certain now. I still think Jerry is only blabbering and am expecting nothing more than half measures.

Didn't Stephen Jones already say they are keeping McCarthy?

Quinn is gone, not sure about Kellen...MM is here to stay this year possibly two .....if Sean Payton leaves NO he cant come directly to the Cowboys ...he has three years left on his contract...there would be some sort of tampering charge against the Cowboys if Sean leaves NO and then joins the Cowboys immediately.....after next year, MM is fired....Sean takes over....but it could be next year or after 2023...we have MM for at least two more years....but it all depends of Sean leave NO this year...

For me its simple. If he has better clock management than MM I would give him a try at HC/DC. The Defense wants to play for him and make plays. But that leaves the OC. I am not sold on Moore and MM had nothing to do with the Offense as far as I saw.. If he is allowed to hire and fire the OC and O-Line coach then even better..

JJ said he has a lot to think about regarding the coaching staff..
