07 they drew the NY Giants. While GB faced a garbage Seattle team in the divisional round
09 they had to play at Minny instead of a more favorable matchup vs New Orleans
14 they drew the tougher first round matchup vs Detroit instead of the softer GB team. Cowboys beat Detroit but shouldn’t have. Lost to GB but definitely should not have lost that game
Even in 2018 I would’ve rather have played New Orleans in the divisional instead of the Rams.
This year the Cowboys draw the best defensive team in the nfc . The defense that should have won the 2019 SB!
This is the bad luck I was referring too. Unlucky playoff matchups
2007 - Cowboys had a first round bye while Giants had to play the wildcard game on the road.
Buccaneers had a halftime lead but NYG came back to beat them.
2009, 2014, and 2018- Dallas didn’t finish the regular season over the other division winners to get the bye and avoid a divisional round game on the road.
2021 - Cowboys lost the last home game to the Cardinals; that put them out of the 2nd seed.
Had they won that game, the Eagles would have been the wildcard opponent.
Except for 2007 and 2016, the Cowboys had opportunities to set up matchups more in their favor.
But - it's the playoffs. Win each game- no matter whom the opponent is - then advance.
