They held Mahomes to 19 at Arrowhead..

They won a game without Dak Prescott against the Vikings.

They got turnovers regardless of who we played.

Our defense was as good as anyone’s. Defense sucks in this league. The league isn’t built for defense and the Dallas Cowboys especially haven’t built their team to be defensive.
The Vikings are garbage and Mahomes and the Chiefs were slumped hard when we played them. They'd smash us by 30 if they played again a few weeks later when Reid figured out and resurrected the offense

Our defense did its Job this year.

NFL is not built for defense. They made the league this way. Our defense can play as good as anyone’s.

Who is this defensive juggernaut you aspire to be like? Seriously, who? NFL defense is trash.

fair examples. And to be considered is that the defense went most of the year without Lawrence and Gregory. It’s going to be interesting to see which direction the Cowboys go in the draft

Depressing to watch the way Sean McVay utilizes Cam Akers & Kyle Shanahan employs Deebo Samuel.

Maximizing their versatility/elusiveness in space with perimeter runs, a concept. The way Dallas SHOULD have used Tony Pollard.

Missed opportunity. Underrated weapon.

The 49ers didn't have any 'Fat Guys' vs the Packers.

Bosa (2 Pro Bowls) the only starter with a Pro Bowl selection.

None of the starters have made All Pro at any point in their career (per wiki).

The 49ers DL for the Packers game:
POS ….... %Snaps …...... HT …......... WT …............ Player
DE …......... 84% …......... 6'4 …......... 266 …......... Nick Bosa
DT …......... 75% …......... 6'7 …......... 290 …......... Arik Armstead
DT …......... 54% …......... 6'0 …......... 305 …......... D.J. Jones
DE …......... 52% …......... 6'3 …......... 245 …......... Samson Ebukam

DL …......... 32% …......... 6'4 …......... 270 …......... Jordan Willis
DL …......... 32% …......... 6'1 …......... 285 …......... Kevin Givens
DL …......... 30% …......... 6'5 …......... 240 …......... Arden Key
DL …......... 21% …......... 6'2 …......... 287 …......... Kentavius Street
DL …......... 20% …......... 6'5 …......... 280 …......... Charles Omenihu

Is either Armstead or Jones better than Gallimore?

Armstead looks like a sane version of David Irving.

Is their #2 DE (Samson Ebukam) better than Gregory?

Yes, Bosa > DLaw
BTW our defense stood up pretty well the 2nd half it was the offense that never got the points they needed even in the first half making the 9ers kick fgs..yes, the team played poorly overall but the dl outside of the penalty's didn't do too awful.the offense not sustaining drives and getting points is not helping the defense,

the DL wasn't the weak spot for once the OL was pretty disappointing.

LOL, another offseason of our fans thinking the DL is just fine, we need to add a couple of low level FAs, maybe throw a mid round pick or two at a DL and we'll have a great DL.

49ers were 7th in rushing yards per game. Cowboys were 16th. 49ers were 5th in ypc. Cowboys were 25th. 49ers were 5th in sacks, Cowboys were 14th (and let's be honest, the Cowboys pass rush was only this good because of a LB they played at DE). Football Outsiders had the SF DL ranked 2nd in run D, the Cowboys 13th. They had the 49ers DL rating 5th against the pass, the Cowboys 14th.

If you go with PFF, yes Armstead and Jones are better than Gallimore. Gallimore had a rating of 50. Armstead had a 77 and Jones had a 73 grade.

There is zero doubt the 49ers have a better defensive front than we do. But you do this every year. You lay out how this position or that positoin or that group is not that bad or actually good and then the season happens, they are mediocre and you come back and try to defend them again in the next offseason. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Shannon Sharp called them the best D line in football with D. Law back and he hates the Cowboys.

Fans just want to take 1 game and blow it up as this big narrative.

The fact is our D line was a strength this year and they did it without D. Law and Gallimore for most of the year.

Gregorys game against the Vikings is one of the best games I’ve seen a defensive lineman play in a long time for us.

Where our defense got hurt was when we reduced Parsons off the edge. That really limited the type of impact he had on defense when he was at linebacker and cost him defensive player of the year imo.

I understand Parsons playing linebacker against the 9ers being the right matchup but he’s just not the same player when he isn’t chasing QBs.

The irony here is that you crap all over Dak but then defend and overrate what, by just about every statistical measure, was a mediocre defensive line.

Am I the only one that thinks Gallimore is a really good prospect?

You guys do know the Packers Offensive line has been decimated with injuries right?

Even with Bosa and Warner out of the lineup we couldn’t move the ball.

Dallas paid their QB, RB, and WR. We lost because our stars didn’t step up in a big game. Like Michael Irvin said this week.

Gallimore is a nice rotational guy with some potential. That's it. But this team needs more at DT than him and Osa.

And the 49ers defensive line has been doing that to teams all year. It wasn't just the GB injuries last night. The week before they were causing problems for the Rams too. Rams ran for 2.4 yards per carry last week and Stafford was sacked 5 times.

Im always down to improve it but acting like we have a defensive line problem is just silly.

Saying Dallas gave up a certain amount of points is silly.

Some of these games the offense kept going 3 and out and being awful on 3rd downs.

Looking at point totals is just lazy but I know you number geeks do anything to tell yourself it’s someone else fault.

Every fact is lazy in your words...again get rid of Dak get your QB you can get and get after it with all these studs....gonna be funny to watch you walk back you agenda...that defense gave up 4 straight long drives to Jimmy G keep telling me how goo they are. Dak sucked but no worse than all you other "Stud" players who no showed...

Id love to be terrible and draft a QB.

Being stuck in mediocrity is what I don’t want but here we are.

Parsons has to be on the line but not as DE but 3-4 LB. Any DC dropping him in coverage is an wasting the talent he has. On offense, you build around a QB. On Def, you build around the strengths of a guy like Parsons.
Hire a 3-4 guy like Fangio and he will maximize Mr#11

The Cowboys defense was rated high for one reason............ they generated a crap ton of turnovers.

But when they face a team that protected the ball and could grind them with a competent OL, they weren't as good. Note, the defense isn't horrible by any stretch but there is no doubt they could be better and part of that starts with more talent along the defensive front. They aren't particulary adept at rushing the passer unless Parsons is put at DE. And they could lose Gregory and Armstrong in FA.

Anyone who thinks we have a really good DL and it just needs some tweaks is puzzling to me.

I guess it depends on how you define problem.

They are an average DL. Basically every measure indicates that. If you are OK with that, then sure, I can see you not having a problem with it.

But I think the DL needs to be better. If they want to make a run in the playoffs, they need a better DL. They need to stop the run much better than they do. They need to rush the passer better than they do. And I don't think those improvements come from just the guys we have getting better.

They need more talent along the front.

Not if you see thier agenda..not puzzling at all..Again I blame Dak for alot of this failure, but only blind people dont see we have alot of overpaid no shows on this team.

Most teams don’t care to run the ball.

Dallas defensive line is built to pin their ears back and chase QBs.

They built it to compete against the Rodgers and Brady types.

They didn’t build it with the thought in mind that our offense wouldn’t put points on the board and a team could just run it while Dak does squat.
