My bet is nothing changes now. With SF’s success Jerry will see this as getting beat by the best team……
Was just having the same thought. Jerry’s gonna walk the anger back a bit and by free agency it’ll be like the niner loss never happened.

Hate to say it, but we could hire Tom Landry or Vince Lombardi in their prime and won’t matter until this owner makes some changes at the top and with his no accountability culture.

Since our last trip to a conference championship, we’ve already had 6 Different HCs, 7 different OCs, 8 different DCs, over 70 different assistant coaches….and 1 unaccountable GM.

Hiring anyone without big changes in how this organization is run is just another coat of paint on the Titanic.
I disagree. We have been cheated by the refs for 26 seasons in a row and there is a huge conspiracy in the NFL to ensure our “elite” organization fails. It’s a total conspiracy against us. Can’t you see that? Why can’t you see that??

He laid the groundwork for this as he was saying things he thought we wanted to hear.....wait a few weeks, have everyone under contract i want...these are not the words of a GM about to take action.

Seriously i think most fans would respect him more for it...again stop hiding behind puppets and put them on the table and show us what you got..at least we could end this groundhog day either way.
We already know what kind of a hc Jerry is since he’s been undermining and overruling our figurehead hc for 26 seasons now. Jerry’s record as gm the past 26 seasons is the same as his hc record the past 26 seasons.

Jerry is too big of a coward to take over officially as the hc because the hc always takes the blame for Jerry’s folly.

I think the thing that some of you is forgetting is that Jerry has had dumb luck before, look no further than Jimmy.. Sure it was a different time, no salary cap, etc, but Jerry was bringing in shieks, and princes into the locker room so the craziness was going on even back then as well....

No matter how bad Jerry is, he could finally get lucky with the right set of coaches, it's not likely but possible.. If Big Mike isn't the answer, and the organization sees it, there is no harm at giving Quinn, Harbaugh, Peyton, a shot.... lets be honest, we were only a few points away from advancing in the playoffs, it's not like we can't improve things enough to be in it again...

Having said all of that, I think Sean Peyton is a very solid and smart head coach and I believe he would find ways to beat some of these 4 down lineman defenses we're struggling against... I think the defense will be improved, and our running game and oline also has been exposed and is destined for some upgrades.. I'm not worried about the cap or money, but jerry typically figures out how to manipulate that..

I like Big Mike and believe he should get another shot, but I would understand Jerry making a switch if he feels there are better options.. One thing that we also forget is Jerry has had two years now to watch Big Mike, he may of already seen enough after this season and already knows he is moving on from him.. We could be in a situation now where Jerry is trying to figure out Mike's replacement, it may already be decided..

Let's be clear about something, winning doesn't happen because of one person. Its not the coach or QB or one of the coordinators. That's a myth pushed by the media to build up heroes to get the public's attention. There are many good coaches and QB's.

Being better than the other 31 teams requires a lot of people doing everything right and a little bit of luck.

With all of that said, Payton. He gets his teams ready. He pays attention to both sides of the ball. He doesn't run super complicated stuff but not KM vanilla schemes either. His teams are prepared to play.

New Orleans was 9-8 this year with a QB who no one wanted and Drew Brees taking up $12m of capspace while advertising for gambling sites. It was one hell of a coaching job actually.

Are there some young guys out there who could turn into the next McVay? Probably, but I can't pick them out and I would be afraid of another Garrett situation.

Question first. Is MM a player's coach or everyones buddy? The players don't fear him enough to play disciplined football Imo.

Sean Payton is the best answer.
Except you assume Peyton would be allowed to hire his own staff and have the authority to hire and fire. That ain’t happening under the fuhrers watchful eye. Instead you would see Peyton as a shell of a coach he was when he was w the Saints. You would see Jerry’s whipping boy volume IX with the same results as the pas 26 seasons.

There is no coach alive that can overcome the handicap of having the fuhrer as GM. At least not for the past 26 seasons.

We spent a decade talking about getting rid of Garrett, now here we are two seasons into McCarthy’s tenure and we’re talking about getting rid of him. When he finally gets canned it won’t take long for us to be talking about firing his replacement. Changing head coaches never changes anything with the Cowboys. As long as Jerry is running the show the coaches may change but the team’s performance won’t. No matter how much turnover the Cowboys have we see the same issues. Penalties, undisciplined and underachieving players.

If all our players report to and answer to Jerry, then how can it be fixed by hiring a Super Bowl winning coach (McCarthy, Sean Payton), and have Jerry hire their staff for them and then give that Super Bowl winning hc no authority? How does that ever work? Answer: the Jones model foundation is so f$&@ed, you can’t ever win.

True. But with Payton's experience he could call for full range or no thanks at this point. Until Jerry gives up the ghost, good luck.

Outside of Moore and maybe Quinn, McCarthy has hired HIS guys. That's how we've ended up with washed up guys like Philbin and Mike Nolan last yr. He definitely picked Garrett's staff, but to be real to Garrett show he had any connections/business picking his own staff? Rest assured a guy like Payton would get to pick his staff because he's proven capable of it before and would get that respect. A college coach not named Harbaugh....doubtful IMO. JJ assumes he would have better staff builder knowledge than someone who's never been in the NFL before. I'd take Payton if for no other reason than he'd be our best chance of a respectable coach in JJ's rolodex. Because IF McCaethy gets canned, realistically your actually looking at the elevation of either Quinn or Moore. In fact I won't kid myself it would be Moore if a guy like Payton can't be had

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
1. Sean Payton
2. Kevin O-Connel
3. Brian Callahan - though after Jerry mistreated his dad, I doubt this can happen.

Smart players know just to get in good with Jerry. If you're one of Jerry's "guys" no head coach can do anything to you.

That's part of the organizational dysfunction. It's also why Jerry only has an interest in certain coaches and some coaches would never work for him.

I would want Brian Flores, but If I had to guess, he's probably not even close to being on Jerry or Stephen's radar.

Id be happy with Payton or Pederson

DQ I'd have to see who he brings in as OC to get too excited.

I don't think there's a coach who's able to turn this team around.
