"My guy was way better at losing big games"..NO "My guy looked better losing big games"....jesus one is retired from this clown show owner and the other is probably at home thinking "What the hell was I thinking not going to free agency" you are all wrong..both QB's were/are good..the owner still sucks....

I guess we can say that Aikman would have taken the 2007 and 2014 Cowboys rosters to the Super Bowl. Or that Rodgers, Brady or Peyton Manning would have as well. Since you all always love to use this logic with Dak. Then why can't the same "what if" scenarios, which will never actually be proven be used with Romo?
I want Dak to succeed as much as you, but he gets rattled to easily.

I was livid when Romo wasn't even given a chance to compete in 16 and basically tossed to the curb like yesterday's trash. I mean Romo had his bad games. But to me,Tony was definitely a smarter QB as well as a better passer. Seemed to make lesser WRs better. Dak should be all world with this talent and he's not. He's an average QB propped up by the talent of the roster. Give him lesser receivers he's below average.
No. I might have already said it, but no. Don't bother responding to this. I'll just add you to my ignore list.

You're an idiot! I don't know why anyone would think Romo was ever better than Dak as a rookie. He certainly never achieved more than Dak as a rookie.
Context matters. A pro bowl offensive line (across the board) and a RB with 2,000 all purpose yards HIDE A LOT OF THINGS sir. What have we discovered since 2016 about Prescott when he doesn't have a running game or a pro bowl offensive line? Denver, Las Vegas, KC, Arizona, San Francisco?

Dak choked hard yesterday. Literally crapped the bed.

Mr. I N C

I couldn't believe it.

Not a fan of Romo or Dak read really. Both give you some good games and stats.

Romo didn't close.
Dak won't either.

The rest of the league and QBs are elite and or just flat out better.

Not that Romo is better than Dak or Dak is better than Romo or anyone is better than anyone but after watching the Bills-Chiefs game I definitely thought it was the kind of game I could see Romo keeping pace but doubted Dak could. Dak and Romo are just different QBs is all. Romo could very well have thrown an interception while trying to get a FG with 13 seconds left. I don't know. Going into that drive, though, Romo would have had a better chance to get the FG than Dak in my opinion.

Not having an offensive line or running game, are the exact same types of reasonings that those with revisionist Romo history, have used to explain away why Romo couldn't win more than 2 playoff games or get the Cowboys to the NFC Championship game or Super Bowl.

Dak is a better runner and leader. Romo is a better passer and strategist.

Neither is clutch in the playoffs or big games.

I was not a Romo fan and never considered him elite through most of his career until his final years (2013-2015) he was Top-5. Even predicting the future, I don't think Dak ever reaches Top-5...especially with the talent across the league at QB now and coming up.

As if Romo was doing it all by himself. Do not talk to me about context when you blatantly try to insult my intelligence in that way. I'm done with you. We can't talk because you are so disrespectful. Welcome to my ignore list.

I'll just add my 2 cents here

When Dallas was down to the last drive, I always felt comfortable with Romo leading them down for the tie or to score. I know it didn't always end the way I felt - but there was just a comfort there. In the clutch, he would make it happen.

Dak, just not there with him.

Heck, the numbers might even say otherwise, but to me his accuracy and the fact he can't thrown people open is what keeps that confidence down.

Pro Football Reference grades teams based on Simple Rating System (SRS), and further divides it between offensive (OSRS) and defensive (DSRS).

If you want to go hog wild you can look up how they calculate it, but the bottom line is that it compares each team to all the other teams within each season, adjusting for strength of schedule.

Average for seasons when Romo was top passer on the team:
SRS 3.4 OSRS 3.1 DSRS 0.3

Average for seasons when Prescott was top passer on the team:
SRS 4.9 OSRS 2.9 DSRS 2.0

What's this mean in plain English? Romo's teams were better offensively by a little (3.1 vs. 2.9) but typically had WILDLY worse defenses (0.3 vs. 2.0).

Basically my Hot Take based on this is that Romo was better than Prescott, but the net result was same because he played on worse teams overall, specifically becaue of the defense. Or put another way, he wasn't better enough to move the needle under the circumstances.

What the fringe Dak stans like to do is run an apologetic that absolves him from any wrongdoing or shortcoming.

Then when it comes to Romo it’s “heeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaw, Romo sux!!!”

I'm on record I didn't like the switch to Romo
but he got better as he played but it took several years
before "shiny toy Jerry" got him an offensive line
and by that time, he was broken down.

Coming off injury Dak has stagnated and
now his Oline is broken down.

It's took Carr a couple years to make it back from his injury.

Maybe next year Dak can move forward.

Jerry is counting on it.

when he was 34? He didn’t have a consistent run game. Specially one that can score points. Tell me how the special teams draft and the Roy Williams trade helped him? That’s around 10 picks you can just toss in the garbage right through the height of his career! That’s on top of Claiborne, the TE debacles, Felix Jones and largely ignoring the Oline until he was already 32 when they drafted Smith.

Funny that some still actually think Dak is in the same boat. Jerry’s stupidity after Parcells left screwed that team. They were ready to take off and the GM immediately put a stop to it.
