If I am GM, I fire McCarthy

I started another thread about the reason this season was as it was and that is justification for firing the HC. He has the nerve to say they're going to address the penalties this off season when it was obvious he didn't do it during this season, they saved their worst for the playoff game.

Then I assemble this team and tell them they cost their HC his job and I am going to tell his successor exactly that. His own team can be his worst enemy through laziness and stupidity.

Then I tell them on my weekly radio show (this is assuming I have a weekly radio show but how else are y'all going to know what I am up to and hate on me?) that perps will be outed for mistakes of the mental variety so you'd better hope your mistake doesn't hurt the team.

I won't go into all I would do as GM, especially the free tickets, concessions and merch to my fellow Zoneheads or I will get accused of pandering, but I would stress on these players they are my well-paid employees, they are not family or friends so I have no problem with acting as the employer.

This penalty problem isn't new but it has never been addressed in a head first direction either. A team that beats itself, needs new leadership beginning at the top. I do not know of another way to fix that, it's basics and fundamentals.
I can overlook some little things, but I fire McCarthy for 2 reasons.
1. Fired for demanding Moore have a more balanced offense early in the season, which worked, and then letting it slide as Moore abandoned the run and became pass happy for 2 months.

2. Fired for his stupid comments to the media after the season. If you don’t know you’re on thin ice after the first round loss and that you should keep your mouth shut and be low key, then you aren’t smart enough to get it right next year.

Cowboys will never win another Super Bowl as long as Jerry owns the team.

It's a shame Jimmy Johnson is not in the ring of honor. Without Jimmy, Jerry is still looking for his first Super Bowl win.

I think he’s digging a hole where he needs to be gone. Every statement he makes about the last play, penalties etc puts him further from reality. Jerry sees this.

And none of this is new.

MM has always talked like a moron.

For this what if, I would fire:

Mike McCarthy
Rob Davis
Kellen Moore
Joe Philbin
Jeff Blasko
Adam Henry
Lunda Wells
Skip Peete
Doug Nussmeier
Joe Whitt Jr.
Aden Durde
Leon Lett
Scott McCurley
Al Harris
George Edwards
John Fassel
Matt Daniels
Scott Tolzien
Kyle Valaro
Ryan Feder
Eric Simonelli
Justin Rudd
Cannon Matthews
Chase Haslett
Harold Nash Jr.
Kendall Smith
Cedric Smith

I would extend a contract offer to Dan Quinn with one stipulation that he can only select fired defensive staff, special teams staff, and strength & conditioning staff of his choosing for re-hire. Some say blow it up and not really mean it. I say it literally.

The explosion would also take out four additional names but this is a general manager what if thread, not an owner what if thread.
Wouldn't hire Dan Quinn if I was truly gonna blow it up. Just start fresh and new across the board.

I remember a few years back that the Patriots were amused that Dallas practices in a dome during inclement weather. They said Belichick makes them practice outside in the rain and cold. Combine that with Jerry being buddy buddy with all the players and players can go to Jerry if they aren't happy with the head coach it just reaks of a bunch of soft players mentally and physically.

At least in the past 26 years, I've thought we had a chance every once in a while. With the OP, I know we wouldn't stand a chance. ;)

You thought we had a chance. Your thinking changed nothing. We didn't have a chance.

Cowboys aren't going to win anything with the Jones family running the show. People like me have been pointing this out for well over a decade, and in 2022, it's further than ever from being proven wrong.

0 and 26.

Do you think I was saying my thinking a certain way improved the Cowboy's chances? That's not what I was saying at all. You're right, my thinking changed nothing. I know this, so you are just making a strawman argument. Countering no one. You may as well be talking to a wall because no one is in disagreement.

Man. All due respect some of you guys are missing what's really the problem. IMHO. The first thing wrong with Dallas is Jerry babying the players. One guy get hurt Jerry calls McCarthy and cancels practice. Two...Get the players away from the Star. This place is just a Country Club setting versus a place for the team to learn toughness. Third. I could keep McCarthy but you have to have great coaches under him. You never gonna win with the coaches we have under McCarthy. I'll call it right now. Jerry doesn't do anything about bringing in better secondary coaches we gonna be right here again next season asking why. 4th. Get bigger on both sides of the ball in the trenches. 5th. Hire Ken Norton as you LB coach. 6th. Bring back Jon Kitna. When Kitna was here Dak was a way better quarterback. 7th. Get rid of Moore. This guy is never going to be the next big find. It took Jerry nearly 15 years to see Garrett wasn't the One. Man. This front office acts like it's calculus here:facepalm: Every other team has darn near figured it out over the last 26 years except our font office:facepalm: They ain't going to do it. Because they're either to dumb -to arrogant or both.

Harbaugh is not leaving Michigan to come to Dallas…he makes more money at Michigan…and it’s a better situation.
He left the Niners because of a feud with the meddling GM and people think he would come to Dallas? LMAO

You have to pretend Jerry is actually speaking below as you read.

Jerry (GM): "I think I'll keep Mike. I like Mike. Listen...I know that our fans think there's a better fit out there and they think they know who that is. I'm telling you that person is Big Mike. He's been there...done that. He knows his stuff."

Jerry(Owner): "I think Jerry the GM is doing one heckuva job! I know several GMs across the sport of football. I know Jerry the GM has as much knowledge and more than they do. Granted, they operate independently from ownership in some situations...but they really don't. You don't think the Owner is in their ear? Let me tell you...that's just not true. The GM isn't doing anything the Owner doesn't want him to do. What I do and, what they do, is all from the same GM playbook."

Jerry(Owner and GM): "I know our fans are a passionate group. They're a passionate bunch. They think they know what's best. Sometimes, you just gotta push back and tell them, 'Look...I'm the Owner so don't you think I have the best interest of the team at the top of my mind as the acting GM? I have been in this business a long time now. I've made the mistakes. And, Big Mike is the one we need to get us to the promised land...the Super Bowl!'".
