You're focusing on a team result - when discussing clutch, that is a player focus. If a QB drives down the field with say, 2 minutes left and gets a TD to put the their team ahead, that is clutch. If a defense collapses after that and allows the opposition to drive down the field and score and there is no time left for the said former QB to do anything, that isn't on the QB.

We're talking about single player performance not team. You're mixing this up. Allen was clutch last night and so was Mahomes. One of them simply didn't get the ball back due to OT rules.
We have a big enough sample size at this point! Dak is at least part of the problem, likely the biggest part!

So some people will point out that Dak being clutch is one of his better traits. Well this might help dispel that notion.

13 games when the Cowboys had the ball with 2 minutes or less losing by 1 to 7 points.

1-12 in those games. Watching yesterdays games you need an offense and QB who can win games in the clutch with little to no time left in the playoffs. Dak isnt that QB.

Do u have a top 10 pick in your back pocket. Can u make sure you hand one to Jerry so he can pick a franchise QB. Maybe not this year since none of them seem to be... But perhaps next year...would highly appreciate it.....

That's what allena ND Mahomes are...now how about the other QBs picked before them?...how did they turn out?

I'm mixing nothing up. I said a player is clutch when he shows up consistently in big games and has a significant impact in winning those games. That is a player focus definition and not a team definition. Where is the whole showing up for big games in your definition if you are just going to say that he lost all those big games because of the defense. Heck in that Arizona game the defense did its job and kept the score low enough so that if Dak was really Clutch he could have won it.

I was countering his take on what is clutch. I don't think Dak has really shown much at all for me to consider him clutch. With Dak it seems he is either playing catch up due to his slow starts or we are putting up 40 on scrub teams. So those close 4th quarter moments aren't there often, and the fact that I can remember him nearly fumbling the game away (New Orleans a couple years ago) or his flub against the 49ers doesn't help his case.

But you also said you have to win the game....

That's what I am countering.

You do. What's the point of calling someone Clutch in a loss? You lose and you don't deserve any accolades Back when Jerry was still respectable he once said: "WE MUST WIN,WE WILL WIN... WIN IS THE NAME OF THE GAME." Are you really going to call someone Clutch who plays good every week but his team loses every game? No, because he didn't impact the game enough to make a difference. Are you saying that that Dak deserves to be called clutch for a game where his Defense held the Cardinals to 25 points and he couldn't score more than that? Obviously, scoring under 25 points in the cardinals game means that Dak did not have an impact in that game, and so was not clutch.

Contracts erase draft position. You get paid as the top QB in the league, you better play like it. No more 4th round pick excuses.

yeah, I had a discussion with Adam a few years ago on this board about the importance of the run game which he showed “statistically” was not important to winning in the NFL. After I questioned him a little he admitted that he was using data collected by someone else, he had no way of knowing the accuracy of the data, that the data was NOT based on context or matched by circumstances, and there was no correction for multiplicity and not a multivariate analysis (so had not been corrected for confounding factors). Yep, this is that guy now asking for “posting similar data” :lmao2:

he was just posting stuff not expecting others to know something about statistics LOL

Yeah, some folks acted like he was infallible.

Wait....you seriously don't?

Maybe because he is among the leaders in 4th quarter comebacks/ game winning drives since he has been in the league?

Why do you think he isn't? Bc of this ridiculous stat?

Hes like the Tom Brady of the regular season against bad football teams.

Nobody is buying Stats Prescott’s stats anymore.

I think Cowboys fans are actually informing themselves as to what the rest of the league has at QB and the conclusion is we better start doing thing like the 49ers because we don’t have one of those elite guys.

Has any announcer anywhere talked about not giving Dak the ball, down 4 in the 4th qtr and with less than a minute. In all fairness, not many QB's can do what these two dudes did last night
True
And Brady and Stafford both ALSO did it inside of 2 minutes to go yesterday..with Stafford taking his team for the win with no time left.
But just as with Allen, you got the feeling if Stafford had the ball last he would've ended up scoring as well.

4 QBs in one day

Two great games

He brought us back from 20 points down last season against Atlanta in one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the organization. He was clutch in OT against New England this season. He’s had a number of clutch performances over his career but he didn’t play well the final half of this season and everybody is very down on him. Fans are refusing to acknowledge any of the good games he’s had. Some are acting like he’s never played a good game. Someone posted that he’s sucked ever since the day he arrived in Dallas in 2016. This is one pissed off fan base. Lol
I don't think beating a bad team that was not going to playoffs or in your division is anything remotely epic.

Good comeback though. Teams tend to do that on Atlanta.
Glad we pulled it out, but come on.

It was an epic comeback no matter how you spin it. We were trying to save our season that was an important game for us.

I already explained this....

"Clutch" doesn't mean "W". It means you perform at a high level in the waning moments of a close game. I already gave you a perfect example of how a QB can be clutch and a team can still lose. All of American saw it yesterday.
