"Sources say that Payton, who has three years left on his contract, has not committed to returning to coach for another season in New Orleans. He has not yet informed the organization for whom he's coached since 2006 that he will definitely return," NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said.

Payton reportedly went on vacation and went "dark on several people close to him." If he were to leave New Orleans, it would be a "mini-retirement to recharge for a year" and he would likely come back next year with another organization.
That's code for, he isn't coming to the Cowboys this year.

Payton isn't coming to the Cowboys, period. No way he will work for Jerry, the money and situation just isn't good. Plus, he can make twice as much announcing, if he's good, with no headaches and 12 hour days.

He actually wanted and wants to coach Dallas. Maybe not this year, but he would have no issues worming with them. They are mutual friends

No one, player and coach alike, wants to work in this circus loser environment.

Here y’all go with this make believe “he won’t work for Jerry“ bs which has never ever occurred before. We’ve never heard any head coach say they wouldn’t work for Jerry, let alone actually decline an offer to do so. About time y’all let go of that mess y’all have convinced yourself of.
