The defense has been redirected, but not finished...if the Cowboys lose their defensive coordinator, that direction has to be improved and a very strong replacement defensive coordinator will have to be then hired. Top of this agenda...

After further review......people need to start figuring out why he got tossed in Green Bay to begin with....because he's starting to do that here.....and pointing fingers when it hits the fan. The guy will take ZERO responsibility for his actions. None.....

You must not understand how the Cowboys operate differently than most teams. Most teams are not owned and GM'ed by the same person. When the GM can't be fired, he is not accountable to anyone. That's not a good thing. A GM that isn't accountable to anyone is capable of interfering with how the HC would otherwise run his team. A GM like that can put coaching staff members in place that the HC has no power over. A GM like that will put players on the team that the HC doesn't want. Do not tell me every team operates this way because they do not. Sean Payton is aware of how Jerry interferes and does not want to work in an environment like that. You ask what team gives this all to the head coach. One example is the Patriots, Bill Belichick is in charge and the owner, Mr. Kraft does not interfere.

Joe I know you think you know but you don't understand, let me help you .The head coach doesn't have final say on personnel on most teams in the NFL. There's a few exceptions like Belichick and Pete Carroll but it also comes with it's ups and down. NE is the worst drafting WR team i've ever seen, and Sea fell a part in the trenches and may lose RW. Let's see how many SB's NE wins without TB. Most teams have GM's separate from coaches and coaches won't like all their moves, that's life not just in the NFL but in all professional sports. Cowboys use Will McClay as Director of Personnel and if he was bad he would be fired. As far as hiring coaches I've seen Dallas go both ways, I do like the idea of the HC to hire his own staff and I believe Payton would be granted that as others have.

A joint operation between coaches, scouts and GM is the best IMO, when it comes to personnel, we have that and we draft well for the most part. (Taco over TJ watt was a coaches decision)

Jerry Jones's interference is his public debacles, his radio show, his media mouth...that's his problem, that was his problem with Jimmy Johnson and that's his problem today.

Sean Payton is not working anywhere where he does not have control of his staff and which players play on his team. Sean knows how Jerry is and so you have to know he's not coming to Dallas. You can want him all you want but it's just not happening, folks. Understand this!
We are stuck with MM for another year. If we dont make the playoffs JJ might move on. Unless we have injuries to major players..

Hey, you asked me which team operates that way as if you don't know and I told you the Patriots. So now you're on board with that as if you knew that all along. What the hell? As for the Cowboys, Jerry is horrible the way he disrespects the coaches he hires. You know McCarthy didn't want to keep Garrett's OC but Jerry forced him. Remember when Jerry forced Terrell Owens onto Bill Parcells roster. Bill was so mad about that he wouldn't even say his name, only calling him, "the player". Stop insulting my intelligence by telling me most teams operate that way... they do not!

Its not hard to con this fan base. Look back to right after he was hired, this fan base was rabbidly Pro McCarthy. They'll pretend like they weren't, but everyone was psyched. It was actually pretty strange because he didn't have anyone here pounding the table for him before he was hired

Not sure I'm the only outlier but I assure you, as my post history will support, I was not a fan of the hire.
Strongly against.

The only reason Bill Parcells was allowed in the door was because Jerry wanted his new stadium built. And he knew to get it he would have to eat it for 3 or 4 years.

But as soon as the ink was dry on the new stadium deal Bill was gone.

You people just don't get it. People like Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett, and Mike McCarthy are all we're ever going to be allowed to have. Because they will tot the water for the Jones Cabal.

We'll never get back to an NFCCG the way things are.

My last game at AT&T was because my son-in-law wanted to go and bought tickets for my birthday.

I couldn't say no. So we went. And there was Michael Irvin up on the jumbotron rooting the fans on.

I thought..........Michael Irvin? That was 25 years ago. How odd. But that is where this franchise is.

Really enjoy your reality based posts.
Nice job.

I think when you bring in a whole new staff you let the HC choose but if you have some of the pieces in place already you don't, that's normal around the league. If we bought in Payton, would we fire Dan Quinn as DC if he was still here? Of course not
I remember the Terrell Owens deal but at the time JJ was the GM (he's not anymore) and he was adding premier hall of fame talent, the #1 WR in the league. That's why I don't like overly power hungry coaches...just have input with the GM and scouts, let them know what you like and prefer but most importantly....COACH. Parcells (one of my all-time favorites) the old stubborn sob also wanted to pass on Demarcus Ware in the draft too, he was past his time. Jerry would do well to get off the radio show and keep his mouth shut to the media after the games and most of the time.

That's problem I see

I would say anyone but MM
he could hire Sean Payton or Mike Zimmer.( both have ties with the Jones).

Show me what either has done that makes them better..again everything they have done puts MM and Payton almost identical and Zimm is far behind both...I am open to see what I'm missing when it comes to the big diference between Payton and MM though.

I think hopefully McCarthy will start weeding the team out of the always injured players and quitters. Guys who shrink in the big game occasions. What I'm going to watch is to see who he cuts and what type of new Free agent guys he brings in. That's of course if Jerry let's him. I also hope Dallas bring in the fattest guys they can find out there for center-Oline guard and defensive tackle. Looking at the playoff teams -at least by eye alone. Dallas looks so small. We have these guys with well chiseled stomachs. Like they wanting to be on a playgirl calendar. I want some guys with two stomachs hanging out. And get me some guys with an edge. We have NO guys with an edge on this team. They all seem to want to be perfect like an old 50 type serial show. I want some guys in here that want to destroy somebody. Hopefully on the other side of the ball and in practice. It's just so much that needs changing in Dallas to turn this mess around. My 26 year fear? Jerry isn't going to do it. I really believe he's so comfortable doing what he does-he can't change. I 'll say it guys. We need to change the whole organization from top to bottom to turn this mess around. Not going to happen- so you guys do the math. If not Quinn or Payton. McCarthy is the man.
The DT you speak of is available and he's already under salary. His name is Mike McCarthy and he'd be the perfect DT. Put him at the Nose and tell him the football is filled with nacho chips. We'd have the best run/pass defense for sure. We could literally rush him and drop 10 guys in coverage and still get pressure.
